Indiana University Women’s Basketball announces the Signing of Tennessee Transfer Karoline Striplin <\/strong>
Indiana Women’s Basketball has announced the addition of Karoline Striplin to its 2024-25 roster. Striplin, a 6-3 forward, arrives in Bloomington after three seasons at Tennessee and will have one year of eligibility with the Hoosiers. “Karoline is a tough post player who can score inside and out while also establishing herself as a great post defender,” Indiana head coach\u00a0Teri Moren said. “She is a player who we’ve faced a couple of times and have been familiar with since high school, so we know her skill set, and work ethic will be the perfect fit for us. We are excited for Karoline and her family to be Hoosiers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hartford, Alabama native played in 91 games for the Lady Vols, making 39 starts and playing in three NCAA Tournaments including a pair of trips to the Sweet Sixteen.  In her three seasons, she shot 48.8 percent from the floor, 32.3 percent from the 3-point line and 73.3 percent at the free throw line. In 2023-24, Striplin played in all 33 games and made 11 appearances in the starting lineup where she averaged a career-best 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. She scored in double figures eight times with one double-double and set a new career-high 29 points versus Middle Tennessee. As a sophomore, Striplin appeared in the starting lineup on 28 occasions and shot 50 percent from the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Striplin also excels in the classroom, as a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and two-time CSC Academic All-District holds a 3.88 GPA. She will graduate in May with a degree in journalism and electronic media and will pursue a master’s degree at Indiana. Out of high school, Striplin was ranked as a four-star recruit and a top 45 player by both ProspectsNation.com (No. 39) and espnW (No. 45) and the 2021 Alabama Sports Writers Association Miss Basketball. She averaged 28.6 points, 16.8 rebounds, 6.2 blocks, 5.6 assists and 4.2 steals per game while shooting 59 percent from the floor as a senior at Geneva County High School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Wrestler Magnus Kuokkanen earns All-American Status at the Under 20 U.S. Open<\/strong>
Indiana has five current wrestlers and one signee competing at the 2024 U.S. Open in Greco-Roman and Freestyle competition in the U20 age group. Redshirt freshmen\u00a0Magnus Kuokkanen and\u00a0Mason Alley competed in the U20 Greco-Roman division. Freshmen\u00a0Joey Buttler\u00a0and\u00a0Aidan Torres\u00a0along with redshirt freshman\u00a0Cole Rhemrev\u00a0and incoming Hoosier Sam Goin will all wrestle in the Freestyle Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All Greco-Roman competition was completed on Wednesday with U20 Freestyle matches taking place Today and Saturday. At 77 kg, Magnus Kuokkanen finished in eighth place in the U20 Greco-Roman division to become an All-American. Kuokkanen won four matches in his time in Vegas to claim his spot on the podium. Alley competed at 72 kg and won two matches in his bracket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Men’s Tennis Players Sam Landau and Jagger Saylor earn All-Big Ten Tennis Honors <\/strong>
Indiana’s\u00a0Sam Landau and\u00a0Jagger Saylor were both honored with conference recognition on Wednesday morning by the Big Ten office. Landau was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and Saylor was named a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree. Landau, a sophomore from Los Angeles, went 11-6 in singles play this spring while playing at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. In doubles play, he accumulated a 10-3 mark. Saylor was one of ten student-athletes around the conference to earn the sportsmanship award. Saylor is a senior from Westfield, Ind. who has been a consistent presence in the Indiana lineup over the last four years. He went 7-2 in doubles play and earned eight wins in singles this spring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana University Women’s Tennis end the season with a loss to Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament <\/strong>
No. 14 seed Indiana Women’s Tennis (6-20, 0-12 B1G) wrapped up the season as they fell to No. 11 Nebraska (13-10, 4-8 B1G) at the Varsity Tennis Courts in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan.\u00a0Nebraska took an early lead in the opening round of doubles, before IU went down 2-0 after the Cornhuskers picked up a win in No. 6 singles.\u00a0Freshman\u00a0Li Hsin Lin put the Hoosiers on the board after taking the second and third sets in No. 4 singles.\u00a0The Cornhuskers extended their lead with a win in No. 2 singles before clinching the match with a win in the No. 1 singles match.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fever will travel to Dallas on Friday May 3, for the first of two preseason games at 8pm. Indiana will host the Atlanta Dream on Friday May 10 7pm inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Longtime Vincennes University Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks announces retirement <\/strong>
Vincennes University President Dr. Chuck Johnson said he had mixed emotions as he shared the news Thursday of the departure of\u00a0longtime coach and A-D Harry Meeks. Meeks joined VU in 1991 as an instructor and only the 4th head coach of the Women\u2019s Basketball team. In 23 seasons he won 20 or more games and had 11 NJCAA National Tournament Appearances. Meeks also produced 26 of the 30 Women\u2019s Basketball All-Americans during his time at VU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson went on to praise Meeks saying VU Athletics has produced eight team national championships under Harry\u2019s leadership as athletic director, including 2019 Men\u2019s Basketball, 2011 Tennis, 2013, 2016, and 2018 Men\u2019s Golf, and 2010, 2012, and 2014 Bowling. During\u00a0Harry\u2019s tenure as AD, the VU Track and Field program has also produced several individual national championships. Meeks will stay on through the end of June to help with the transitional phase and Johnson says the new search for a new athletic director and women\u2019s coach will start soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
