Indiana Cutters Travel to Indiana Tornados in Playoff Showdown

For the third straight season the Indiana Cutters and the Indiana Tornados will meet in the playoffs. Tomorrow at 6:30 PM at Beech Grove HS in Indianapolis. The Tornados come in 6-2 and number 1 seed in the South. The Cutters are 5-3 and the number 4 seed after losing to the Kentucky Cardinals 20-6 in June giving the Cardinals the 3 seed based on head-to-head tiebreaker. The Cutters won the regular season matchup 18-16 on July 11th at Danville HS when Running Back Marquise Holt scored on 3-yard touchdown run with no time left. On August 24th, 2019 the Cutters beat the Tornados 18-11 at Martinsville HS but the Cutters forfeited the victory due to an ineligible player. September 26th, 2020 at John R Wooden Middle School in Martinsville the Tornados beat the Cutters 22-19 on a last second field goal. The Winner of this game will advance to the South Division Championship Game against the winner of 3 seed Kentucky Cardinals and 2 seed Kentuckiana Calvary on Saturday August 21st.

Indiana Men’s Basketball Plays Serbian Team BC Mega in The Bahamas

For the 2nd time in school history Indiana Men’s Basketball is playing exhibition games in the Bahamas. The Hoosiers will play BC Mega from Belgrade Serbia Tonight at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 1 PM in the Imperial Ballroom at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in Nassau. The Hoosiers will take the floor for the first time under new coach and 1980 IU graduate Mike Woodson who took over in April after former coach Archie Miller was let go. Trayce Jackson Davis is back for his junior season and averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds per game a year ago. The Hoosiers added four transfers in the offseason with Xavier Johnson-Pittsburgh, Michael Durr-South Florida, Miller Kopp-Northwestern and Parker Stewart-Tennessee Martin. BC Mega was 18-15 last season and is led by shooting guard Nikola Jovic at 6-10 he is projected 2022 NBA Lottery Pick. Jovic is 18 years old and averaged 15.8 points per game last season. Point Guard Dayshon “Scoochie” Smith played for Dayton from 2013-17 and averaged 13.8 points as a senior and had 498 career assists.  In 2007 the Hoosiers went 3-0 over Labor Day weekend under coach Kelvin Sampson in there first trip to the Bahamas. 

Indianapolis Colts Host Carolina Panthers in First NFL Preseason Game

The Indianapolis Colts will host the Carolina Panthers in the first of three NFL Preseason games. The Game is Sunday 1 pm at Lucas Oil Stadium and will be shown Locally on Fox 59 and nationally on NFL Network. This will mark the 2nd all time preseason matchup between the two teams. Carolina won the first meeting on Charlotte on August 9th, 2008 23-20. The Panthers and The Colts had a joint practice yesterday and today at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield Indiana before this weekend’s game.

Big Weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

For the second consecutive year the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host NASCAR and Indy Car for an historic doubleheader on the road course inside the grounds of the speedway. Tomorrow the Indy Car Series will race at 1 PM on NBC Sports Network followed by the NASCAR Xfinity race at 4 PM on NBC Sports Network. Sunday a revamped Brickyard 400 will race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course for the first time. The Race will start at 1 PM on NBC.  July 4th 2020 Mitchell Indiana native Chase Briscoe won the Xfinity race and Scott Dixon won the Indy Car Race both on the road course.
