Indiana Football ranked preseason #17
The Indiana University Football Hoosiers have been ranked #17 in the USA Today AFCA Coaches Preseason Poll. The Hoosiers finished 6-2 last year after a loss to Ole miss in the 2020 Outback Bowl; a season which began with an upset victory over top ten ranked Penn State. IU will return 19 starters this year, 10 of which on defense. Additionally, Indiana has made some significant off season pick-ups and recruits. The 2021 Hoosier season will begin Saturday, September 4th when IU takes on the 18th ranked Hawkeyes in Iowa.
 
Indiana University names Alicia Kozma Director of IU Cinema
Alicia Kozma is the new Director of the Indiana University Cinema, replacing Jon Vickers who retired almost a year ago. Brittany Friesner, who had been acting as the Interim Department Head, will return as the Associate Director. Kozmawas recruited away from Washington College in Maryland where she served as Assistant Professor, and chaired their first academic program in communication and media studies. IU Cinema opened in 1941 as the University Theatre and reopened as a premier art house cinema in 2011.

Ivy Tech offering tuition-free EMT job training in Paoli for eligible residents
Ivy Tech Community College is offering a tuition-free EMT certification course for eligible students in Paoli that starts on Aug. 19. There is still time to sign-up for this one-course program that prepares graduates to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam, which qualifies them for work as an EMT. The class is just one semester long and will be held at the Lost River Career Cooperative near Paoli High School. Ivy Tech offers other one-course certifications through Next Level Jobs Indiana, such as Dementia Care and Certified Nursing Aide. In addition to EMT training, eligible residents can earn tuition-free certificates that prepare them for work in auto repair, business, electrical, HVAC, computing/I.T., medical assisting, medical device manufacturing, nursing, welding, and more. Traditional Arts Indiana Apprenticeship Program Applications Open
Apprenticing with a master artist is a time-honored way of passing on traditional arts. As a way to complement this process, the Traditional Arts Indiana Apprenticeship Program supports the continuation of cultural practices in Indiana communities by funding up to six apprenticeship pairs each year, enabling apprentices to learn essential knowledge and skills in traditional art forms from master artists.  Traditional Arts Indiana hosts this apprenticeship program in partnership with the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
