Bloomington North, South Post Wins Edgewood Falls in Week One of HS Football

The 2021 High School Football Season kicked off the regular season in the state of Indiana last Friday night with all three Monroe County High Schools hosting their home openers and going 2-1 this week. Bloomington North dispatched Greenwood 48-8 for its 3rd win over Greenwood in the last four seasons. Senior Quarterback Reece Lozano threw 5 touchdown passes and ran for another as the Cougars host Bedford North Lawrence this Friday Night at 7 PM. Bloomington South rolled over New Albany 50-20. The Panthers had 441 yards of offense compared to 262 for the Bulldogs and held them to one rushing first down. New Albany had 22 against the Panthers a season ago. Bloomington South will host rival Martinsville this Friday at 7 PM as Martinsville beat Bedford North Lawrence 45-14 Saturday Afternoon in Martinsville.  Mitchell beat Edgewood 28-26 on the Red Turf. Edgewood scored with 2:36 left to go in the game when Jakob Lanning found Jared Owens on a 37-yard touchdown pass but the two-point conversion failed and Mitchell was able to hold on the ball and run out the clock. The Mustangs will hit the road this Friday night to face Monrovia at 7 PM as the Bulldogs beat Indianapolis Ritter 41-12.

Indianapolis Colts beat Minnesota Vikings for 2nd Preseason Win

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Minnesota Vikings 12-10 at U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for their second win of the NFL Preseason. The Colts have won both games by a total of 5 points and have scored 33 points to the opponents 28. Sam Elingher got the start for the Colts and was 8-13 passing with 2 interceptions.  Jacob Eason was 16-27 for 132 yards and led two drives down the field that led to 2 field goals. The Colts Offensive line did a great job of protecting both quarterbacks not allowing a sack all night while the Colts Defense got 2 sacks on the Vikings quarterbacks for 10-yard loss. Eddy Pinerio hit 3 field goals and Rodrigo Blankenship added one for the Colts. Tye Dye picked off Elhinger with 3:45 left in the first quarter and returned it 33 yards to house to give the Vikings the led 7-3. Greg Joseph added a 49-yard field goal with 45 seconds left before halftime to give the Vikings the 10-6 lead at half.   The Colts will finish the preseason this Friday when they travel to the Detroit Lions for 7 pm Kickoff and the game will be televised on WXIN FOX-59 in Indianapolis.

Indiana Pacers Announce 2021-22 Schedule

The Indiana Pacers have announced the 2021-22 Schedule. The Pacers will play four preseason games. The Pacers will open the preseason October 5th at New York and October 8th at Cleveland. The Pacers will host Memphis October 13th and Cleveland October 15th. The Pacers will open the regular season on the road October 20th at Charlotte followed by an October 22nd game at Washington. The Pacers open the home season October 23rd against the Miami Heat. The Pacers will have one game on National Television when they travel to the Miami Heat December 21st on TNT. The local TV and Radio broadcast schedule will be announced at later date. The Pacers will play 82 games with 41 of those at home and the regular season ends on April 10th. Tickets for the Pacers will go on sale Thursday September 30th at 2 pm and fans can register for presale access to single game tickets by signing up www.nba.com/pacers/insider-registration.

Bloomington Speedway Celebrated Fan Appreciation Night

The Bloomington Speedway Celebrated Fan Appreciation Night last Friday with 88 entries in five different classes competing on the dirt track. Zach Sasser won the super stocks with Brad Frye finishing second. Michael Brewer won the Hornets with Davey Waggoner finishing second. Jordan Kinser won the 410 non winged sprints with Brayden Fox finishing second. Jordan Wever won the Dirt car UMP Modifies with Jeff Deckard finishing second. DJ Dunn won the Bombers with Mickey Hines finishing second.   The Speedway host the rescheduled Josh Burton Memorial on Friday September 3rd.  The Race was rained out on May 28th , Pits will open at 4 PM with gates opening 5 PM, Hot Laps at 6:30 PM and Racing at 7:30 PM.
