Racing Journalist Robin Miller Passes Away at Age 71
Anderson Indiana Native Robin Miller has passed away at age 71 after battle with leukemia. Miller was writer for the Indianapolis Star for 1968-2001. Miller wrote for auto week, car and driver, ESPN and Speed. Before his passing he wrote for Racing magazine and was on the Indy Car Broadcast for NBC Sports Network. Miller graduated from Southport HS in Indianapolis and spent time at Ball State and IUPUI as a Student. He first visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1957 and attended the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in 1959.
Indiana Women’s Soccer Hosts Tennessee Martin
Indiana Women’s Soccer is back in action tonight at Bill Armstrong Stadium when the take on the Tennessee Martin Skyhawks at 8 PM. The game has been moved back in hour due to heat concerns it was scheduled to being at 7 PM. The Hoosiers are 1-0-1 with a home win over Valparaiso last Thursday Night and road draw at Norte Dame Sunday Afternoon. Jamie Gerstenberg has posted two shutouts in her first two games as goalie. The Freshman from Germany has come in in a short time established herself as the top goalkeeper on the team and will make noise in the Big Ten Conference this season.
Zach Weatherford Added to Indiana Baseball Coaching Staff
Indiana Baseball Coach Jeff Mercer has announced that Zach Weatherford has been named as volunteer assistant coach for the Hoosiers rounding out the staff. He was on the staff at his alma mater Wright State for the 2021 season as director of operations and made the NCAA Tournament. Weatherford played from 2016-2019 after redshirting his first season under Jeff Mercer. The Raiders went to the 2 NCAA Tournaments in 2016 and 2018 after winning the Horizon League regular season and conference tournament each of those seasons. Earlier in the summer Coach Mercer promoted Derek Simmons to recruiting coordinator and adds assistant coach/pitching coach Dustin Glantt to staff after spending the last 2 years with the Triple AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Edgewood Girls Golf Beats Owen Valley and Mitchell
Edgewood Girls Golf had score of 211 to beat Owen Valley 213 and Mitchell 230 in a 3 way meet. Tuesday Evening. Candice Rosemeier had a 45 to lead the Mustangs. Winnie Sater had a 51, Jamie Robinson a 56, Amara Hanson 59, Grace Weiler 64, Ashton Sessions 67 and Addi Hash 68. Edgewood faces Bloomington Today at 3:30 PM.
