#5 Indiana University Football faces its Biggest Test at #2 Ohio State  The #5 Indiana Hoosiers battle #2 Ohio State Buckeyes in the one of the biggest games of the College Football Season Saturday at Noon at the “Horseshoe” Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio with the game televised on Fox. It’s so big that both Fox Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’S College Gameday Shows will be televising their Live Pre-Game Shows from outside the Stadium.  The Hoosiers are 10-0 under first year Head Coach Curt Cignetti and rewritten the record books this season. Indiana is 7-0 in the Big Ten and win on Saturday would almost guarantee a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game against Oregon on December 7th at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indiana has won 10 games and 7 Big Ten Games for the first time ever and it’s been since 1988 that Hoosiers have beaten the Buckeyes. Indiana won 41-7 in Bloomington as it was referred to as the “Darkest Day” in Ohio State Football history. Indiana won 31-10 in Columbus in 1987 and it’s the only time the Hoosiers have beaten Michigan and Ohio State in the season. Indiana beat Michigan 20-15 in a Sold-out Memorial Stadium 2 weeks ago.  The Hoosiers have lost 29 in a row to the Buckeyes and 30 of the last 31 since 1989 with. 27-27 tie in Bloomington in 1990. Ohio State leads the all-time series 80-12-5

Former Ohio State Wide Receiver and ESPN Analyst Joey Galloway said on ESPN’s College Football Playoff Top 25 Rankings Show Tuesday Night that the Hoosiers should bench Quarterback Kurtis Rourke against Ohio State to maintain the Hoosiers College Football playoff path. “If we believe in what our metrics are saying, If I’m Indiana, I don’t know if I’m playing Rourke Saturday against Ohio State” Galloway Said. Galloway played at Ohio State form 1991-94 as a Wide Receiver and last season Florida State Quarterback Jordan Travis went down in Week 12 with a season ending injury against North Alabama and Florida State finished the regular season undefeated and was left out of the four team College Football Playoff.  This year the field has increased to 12 teams with the four conference champions receiving a first round bye. The Highest ranked group of five Conference Champions would get the fifth automatic bid, and they will be 7 at large spots. Both Ohio State and Indiana are in the mix to land in the College Football Playoff and seeds 5 though 8 would host a first round playoff game December 20 or 21. In Tuesday’s College Football Playoff Projections Indiana would be the 7th Seed and host 12 Seed Ole Miss in the first round and Ohio State would be the 5 seed and host 12 Seed BYU.

Indiana has won nine of their ten games by double digits and has only trailed twice briefly to Michigan State 10-0 and Michigan 3-0. Indiana has outscored its opponent 439-138 averaging 43.9 points on offense and allowing 13.8 on defense. Indiana has 57 offensive touchdowns on the season which is the most since 2013 when they had 61 and are tied in the FBS with Miami Florida. The Hoosiers have 32 Rushing Touchdowns on the season and are the most since 2001 with 33 in 12 games. The Hoosiers are one of three teams in the FBS that remain undefeated along with Oregon and Army.  Kurtis Rourke has thrown for 2,410 yards and has 2,427 yards total offense and 21 passing touchdowns along with 7 games with 200 or more passing yards in a game. Those marks ranked 17th in total offense, 13th in passing yardage 5th in touchdowns and 7th in 200 or more yards passing for a single season. The Hoosiers held Michigan to 69 yards rushing and it was the 7th game this season that Indiana has done that and broke a tie with 1990 team who held opponents under 100 yards six times that season.

Ohio State is 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten with those only lost to top ranked Oregon 32-31 in Eugene on October 12. The Buckeyes beat Penn State 20-13 in State College on November 2 and Penn State is still in the mix for the Big Ten Championship at 6-1 but need a lot of help to get to title game. Ohio State beat Northwestern 31-7 at Wrigley Field in Chicago last Saturday.  Quarterback Will Howard threw for 247 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Wildcats. Howard has thrown for 2,484 yards with 24 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions. The Buckeyes have a 1-2 rushing attack of Quinshon Judkins who has 723 yards and 8 touchdowns along with Treveyon Henderson who has 662 yards and 5 touchdowns. Freshman Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith has 865 yards and 9 Touchdowns. Emeka Egbuka has 612 yards and 8 touchdowns along with Carnell Tate who has 457 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Ohio State suffered a huge loss up front as Center Seth McLaughlin tore his Achilles Tendon in practice Tuesday and will be out the rest of the season and this is second loss for the Ohio State Offensive Line as Left Tackle Josh Simmons went down at Oregon. The Buckeyes have allowed 12 sacks and 51 Quarterback pressures. The Hoosiers who lost guard Nick Kidwell in fall camp and guard Drew Evans to weeks ago have allowed 11 sacks and 53 Quarterback Pressures. This game is going to come down to three things. Who can make the big plays on both sides of the ball and which line protects its quarterback better. Indiana has had an extra week to prepare for the Buckeyes.

UNC Greensboro is 2-2 on the season but they held their own against an Indiana team that had a size advantage and Coach Mike Woodson was not happy with his team performance.  “This game was just backwards. We’ll watch the film tomorrow and break it down. And then we’re going to have a tough practice tomorrow ” Head Coach Mike Woodson said after the game. Woodson did praise UNC Greensboro for the way the played tonight and battled the Hoosiers for 40 Minutes. “I gotta give this Greensboro team credit. They played harder than us, and that’s not acceptable.”

The Hoosiers will play three games in three days in the Bahamas and if they are going to have a good showing they have to rebound the ball, take care of the ball and not take plays off along with playing a complete game. Mike Woodson did not like the fact his team had 16 assists and thinks they should have 25 to 30 assists per game. “We had 16 assists tonight, that’s awful, the way we played tonight was selfish as hell.” Woodson Said. Indiana will have to prepare for its first trip away from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall against three tough teams in three days.

Despite a 2-3-4 start to the season, Indiana captured its second straight Big Ten regular season title – sharing with Ohio State – thanks to a 10-game unbeaten run. The Hoosiers recorded 32 goals in that 10-game stretch, scoring multiple goals in each match – the program’s longest multi-goal stretch since 1997. Indiana has won eight national championships, the nation’s most since the program’s inception in 1973. Three Former Indianapolis Colts Players named Semifinalist for the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class The Pro Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday narrowed its list of Class of 2025 candidates to 25 semifinalists, with three Colts greats making the cut: Defensive end Robert Mathis, wide receiver Reggie Wayne and kicker Adam Vinatieri. Robert Mathis has now made it to the semifinal round of the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection process in each of his four years of eligibility. During his 14-year career, spent entirely in Indianapolis, the 2003 fifth-round pick became the NFL’s strip sack king: No player in league history has more forced fumbles (52) and strip-sacks (47). His 123 career sacks are a franchise record, and he was a five-time Pro Bowler and 2013 first-team AP All Pro. Mathis in 2013 finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting and led the NFL with 19 1/2 sacks and 10 forced fumbles.

Reggie Wayne proved to be one of the best, most prolific wide receivers in NFL history over his 14-year career with the Colts. Now in his third year as the Colts’ wide receivers coach, Wayne caught 1,070 passes for 14,345 yards with 82 touchdowns over 211 regular season games from 2001-2014. Wayne is one of nine players in NFL history with at least 1,000 receptions, 14,000 yards and 80 touchdowns. He also saved some of his most impactful moments for the postseason, with his 93 receptions second-most in NFL history and his 1,243 yards fourth.

Adam Vinatieri, in his first year of eligibility, will look to become only the second kicker enshrined in Canton. Widely regarded as one of the best kickers – if not the best kicker – in league history, Vinatieri was a three-time first-team AP All-Pro and is the NFL’s all-time leader in points scored (2,673). His clutch kicks in big moments helped him become a four-time Super Bowl champion, and he was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-2000s first team and the NFL 100 All-Time Team. Later this year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will announce 15 modern era finalists to be considered for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Those 15 finalists will be considered by the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee ahead of Super Bowl LVIX, and between three and five modern era finalists will be chosen for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
