#14 Indiana University Men’s Soccer beats Akron 2-1 in Overtime in the NCAA Tournament Men’s Soccer Second Round The #14 Indiana Hoosiers beat the Akron Zips 2-1 in overtime in the Second Round of the NCAA Men’s Tournament Sunday Afternoon on Jerry Yeagley Field on Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hoosiers are 11-4-5 on the season and will advance to the Sweet 16 for the 10th year in a row and 43rd time overall in 49 NCAA Tournament Appearances in 52 seasons of Indiana University Soccer. Indiana has 105 NCAA Tournament Victories all-time and won their 372nd game at home all-time and their 833rd in Program History. Indiana is 28-7-3 all-time against Akron and 6-1 all time in NCAA Tournament meetings. Indiana is 3-0-1 against the Zips in the last 4 meetings and 17-0-2 all-time in Bloomington. Head Coach Todd Yeagley gets 204th win as Indiana Head Coach and 211th win overall in 16 years as a Head Coach.

For Akron their season ends at 12-5-4 and they lost their starting Goalkeeper Mitch Budler who was taken off the field with six minutes left in the first half after he collided with Indiana Forward Clay Murador as they went for a loose ball in the box and Murador fell into Budler at 38:01 mark. The Redshirt Junior from Lincoln, Nebraska had played every minute of every game of the season making 51 saves and giving up 19 Goals. Insert Freshman Brett Kaminski a 6-0 Freshman from Cooper City Florida who was thrown into the game for his first action of the season against one of the best Men’s Soccer Programs and on the road. Kamimski made 1 save in 61 minutes and 3 seconds of action.

Akron got on the board at the 30:37 when Dyson Clapier scored his 5th goal of season when Victor Galumin sent the ball into the box and Clapier got his head on it to knock it home it was Gualmin’s 9th assist of the season. Akron took a 1-0 lead into the locker room as the Zips outshot Indiana 4-1 and 2-0 shots on goal. JT Harms made one save as there were 16 fouls committed with Akron leading 9-7. The Zips had 2 corner kicks and called for offsides twice. Claiper was booked at the 19:30 mark for time wasting.

In the second half Indiana kept knocking on the door and finally broke through at the 70:35 mark as Patrick McDonald sent a beautiful ball ahead to Justin Weiss who flicked it over the head of Akron Goalkeeper Brett Kaminski and tied the game at 1-1. The Zips were booked three times in the second half as Ashton Kamdem, Emil Jaaskelainen and Connor Flisinger all for unsporting. The game went into the first overtime as the Hoosiers kept attacking as Collins Oduro played the ball to Jansen Miller in the Box and put his head on it to score his first goal of the season at the 99:04 mark and keeps the Hoosier season alive as Miller was mobbed in the corner by the entire team and the Hoosiers keep on dancing.

Indiana outshot Akron 14-6 and 6-4 in shots on goal. JT Harms made two saves for Indiana and Brett Kaminski 1 save for Akron. There were 34 fouls called in a very physical match as the Zips were called for 22 and Indiana 12. Akron had 8 corner kicks to 4 for Indiana as the Hoosiers were called twice for offsides and Akron was called once for offsides. Indiana will travel to #3 Denver Saturday at 4 PM for a Round of 16 Matchup.

Indiana University Women’s Basketball knocks off #18 Baylor to advance to the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship Game The Indiana Hoosiers knocked off the #18 Baylor Bears 73-65 in the Battle 4 Atlantis Semifinals at the Imperial Arena at the Atlantis Report on Paradise Island in Nassau the Bahamas. The Hoosiers are 4-2 on the season and have won their least three games and will play at Noon against North Carolina in the Championship Game at Noon on ESPN2. Baylor drops to 4-2 and will play for third place at 2:30 pm on ESPNU. This is the first win for Indiana over Baylor as the Bears won the first three meetings. Baylor beat Indiana 60-47 in Waco, Texas on November 19, 2004, 74-62 on November 19, 2005, and 77-62 on November 29, 2019, in St Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Shay Ciezki scored 34 Points to lead the Hoosiers. The Junior from Buffalo New York went 9-16 from the field, 4-5 from three-point range and 12-13 from the line. Karoline Striplin added 8 points. Lilly Meister, Yarden Garzon and Chloe Moore-McNeil all scored 7 points each and Moore-McNeil added 10 rebounds. Sydney Parrish and Lexus Bargesser added 5 points apiece, but Parrish left the game with an injury. Juliana LaMendola played but did not score. Indiana finished 21-56 from the field for 37%, 5-17 from three-point range for 29% and 26-30 from the free throw line for 86%. The Hoosiers pulled down 42 rebounds, dished out 11 assists, 3 steals, 4 blocks and committed 19 turnovers.

Yaya Felder scored 20 points off the bench for the Bears. Jada Walker added 15 points and Aaronette Vonleh scored 11 points. The Bears finished 21-63 from the field for 33%, 7-23 from three-point range for 30% and 16-26 from the free throw line for 61%. The Bears pulled down 41 rebounds dished out 13 assists, 6 blocks 4 steals and committed 18 turnovers.

IU led 27-18 after the first quarter including a 13-0 run. Baylor outscored the Hoosiers 15-10 in the second quarter as IU led 37-33 at halftime. Indiana and Baylor had identical third quarter scores as it was 18-16 in both the third and fourth quarter.

#2 Ohio State Blitzes #5 Indiana University Football ending the Hoosiers Unbeaten Season The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes dropped Indiana Quarterback Kurtis Rourke five times Saturday afternoon in a 38-15 win over #5 Indiana Hoosiers at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio before a crowd 105,751. The Buckeyes continued their dominance over Indiana winning their 30th straight game against the Hoosiers and 31st out of the last 32 games with the Hoosiers and the Buckeyes playing to a 27-27 tie in 1990 and now lead the series 81-12-5. Indiana is 0-16 in Columbus since 1987 when the Hoosier beat Buckeyes 31-10. Indiana has not beaten Ohio State since October 8, 1988, 41-7 in Bloomington. The Buckeyes are 10-1 on the season and 7-1 in the Big Ten and will host Michigan Next Saturday and if Ohio State beats its rivals to the North, they will clinch in a spot in the Big Ten Championship game against Oregon who the Buckeyes lost to earlier this season. Indiana is 10-1 and 7-1 in the Big Ten and will host archrival Purdue Next Saturday for the Old Oaken Bucket Game at Memorial Stadium.

Indiana forced Ohio State go to three and out on its first possession holding the Buckeyes to eight yards and 1:56 off the clock forcing the Buckeyes to punt. Indiana chewed up clock going 70 yards in Six minutes and Twelve seconds as Ty Son Lawton punched it in on the 11th play of drive to give the Hoosiers a 7-0 lead. Ohio State was stopped at the Indiana 2 Yard line when Running Back Quinshon Judkins was held for no gain and Indiana got the ball back as the Hoosier defense made a big goal line stand early on in the second quarter. Ohio State forced Indiana to punt after a 6 play 8-yard drive and 5 plays later tied the game 7-7 on a 11-yard pass from Will Howard to Emeka Egbuka with 7:22 left in the second quarter.

Ohio State sent the Jailhouse blitz early and often and the Hoosiers Offensive Line could not stop it. On a third and eight at IU 27 Yard Line Cody Simon sacked Kurtis Rourke for a loss of nine yards and Rourke fumbled the ball and the Buckeyes recovered at the 18-yard line. Indiana’s defense got a big defensive stop as Jaylin Walker intercepted Will Howard at the Indiana 11-yard line and Hoosiers got the ball back with 5:22 left in the second quarter. Indiana was in punt formation when James Evans could not hang on to the ball and was dropped for 23 yards at the Hoosiers 7-yard line. Three plays later TreVeyon Henderson scored from 4 yards out with 21 seconds left in the quarter as the Buckeyes lead 14-7 a halftime.

Indiana got the ball to start the second half and James Evans punted away and Caleb Downs took it 79 yards to the house to put the Buckeyes up by two touchdowns 21-7 12:44 left in the third quarter and it was the first time since 2014 that Ohio State had scored on a punt return and it was against Indiana on November 22 in a 44-27 victory in Columbus. Ohio State led 28-7 after Will Howard threw a one-yard pass to Jelani Thurman with 6:02 left in the third quarter. The Buckeyes added a 45-yard field goal from Jayden Fielding with 8:56 left in the fourth quarter to make it 31-7. The Hoosiers scored when Ty Son Lawton scored his second touchdown of the game with 1:53 left as Rourke found Omar Cooper Jr for the two-point conversion to make it 31-15 to cap off a 15 play 75-yard drive that took seven minutes ad three seconds.

The Buckeyes fast scoring offense just needed 3 plays and one minute and seven seconds as Will Howard capped it off on a one-yard touchdown run to make it 38-15 and hand Curt Cignetti his first loss as the Hoosiers Head Football Coach and end their chances of the school’s first perfect regular season. Will Howard finished 22-26 from 201 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception as Ohio State outgained the Hoosiers 316-151. Kurtis Rourke was 8-18 for 68 yards and Ty Son Lawton had 15 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

The Hoosiers will regroup and get ready for a Purdue team that is 1-10 on the season and would like nothing more than two spoil the Hoosiers memorable season and keep the Old Oaken Bucket in West Lafayette for another season. Indiana was 5th in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings and a 7th seed hosting a first-round playoff game. Most felt that the Hoosiers needed to keep the score with within 14 points to keep their hopes of staying in the playoff alive. The Hoosiers have been the talk of the College Football world this season with a 10-0 start and the most wins ever In school history but Ohio State showed that History repeats itself and they continue to show that if you are going to get to the top of the mountain to have to get past them and Indiana for the first half that they were not going to back down and then mistakes bit the Hoosiers but for Indiana it doesn’t take away the turnaround that Curt Cignetti has done they just haven’t been able to get over the hump against The Ohio State Buckeyes and Buckeyes keep its hopes alive to get revenge on the newcomers the Oregon Ducks in two weeks at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Indiana University Women’s Basketball beats Columbia in the Opening Round of the Battle 4 Atlantis The Indiana Hoosiers are 2-1 against the Ivy League after beating the Columbia Lions 72-62 Saturday Afternoon in the Battle 4 Atlantis at the Imperial Arena at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in Nassau the Bahamas. The Hoosiers are 3-2 on the season and Baylor is 4-1 on the season after steamrolling Southern Miss 101-55 Saturday afternoon.

Indiana beat Brown to start the season and lost to Harvard in overtime to start the season. The Hoosiers had four players in double figures led by Lilly Meister with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Yarden Garzon celebrated her birthday with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Chloe Moore-McNeil and Sydney Parrish added 10 points apiece. The Hoosiers finished 26-57 from the field for 45%, 5-18 from three-point range for 27% and 15-21 from the free throw line for 71%. Indiana pulled down 42 rebounds, dished out 16 assists, 6 steals, 3 blocks and committed 16 turnovers.

Cecelia Collins and Riley Weiss led the Lions with 17 points apiece as Kitty Henderson added 13 points. Columbia finished 27-68 for 39 percent from the field, 4-24 from three-point range for 16% and 4-5 from the free throw line for 80%. The Lions pulled down 30 rebounds, dished out 12 assists, 4 blocks, 2 steals and committed 11 turnovers.

Columbia led 11-10 after the first quarter and the Hoosiers outscored the Lions 17-13 in the second quarter to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room. Indiana and Columbia scored 21 points apiece in third quarter as the Hoosiers led 48-45 going into the fourth. Indiana outscored the Lions 24-17 as the Hoosiers have won two in a row after knocking off #24 Stanford last Sunday at Home and lead the all-time series with the Lions 1-0.

Decatur Central ends Bloomington South’s Football Season for the Second Straight Season in the Semi State The Decatur Central Hawks beat the Bloomington South Panthers 27-13 Friday in the Class 5A Semi State Championship at the Fred Huff Memorial Field on the Southside of Bloomington. Decatur Central wins its second state Semi State Championship and third in program history to go with 2018. Decatur Central beat Bloomington South 24-12 in last year’s Semi State Championship game at Decatur Central. The Hawks are 0-2 in the State Championship and will face Warsaw on Saturday Night a 7 PM at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Class 5A State Championship. The Hawks have outscored their opponents 420-239 and are averaging 35 points on offense and giving up 19 points on defense. Bloomington South ends the season with 8-5 record and are 0-6 in Semi State Championship games since winning the 1998 Class 5A State Championship. The Panthers outscored their opponents 413-303 as Gabe Johnson completes his fifth season with a 40-16 record and 54-26 overall in 7 seasons with 6 winning season and one .500 season. The Panthers averaged 31.8 points on offense and 23.3 points on Defense.

Decatur Central’s Ashton Vogel hit a 30-yard field goal with 5:18 left in the first quarter to make it 3-0. Vogel hit his second field goal of the game with a 39 yarder with 1:55 left in the first quarter to make it 6-0 as Decatur Central outgained Bloomington South 77-39 in the first quarter. The Hawks went up 13-0 as Bo Polston found Kasmir Hicks from 5 yards out with 7:55 left in the second quarter. The Panthers got on the board as Braylen Townsend scored on the pitch from 11 yards out to make it 13-7 Decatur Central with 4:35 left in the second quarter. Indiana University Commit Bryce Taylor hit a 30-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in the second quarter to make it 13-10 going into the locker room. The Hawks outgained the Panthers 178-121 in the first half. The third quarter was a stalemate as neither team was able to score. Bryce Taylor tied the game 13-13 at with 2:25 left in the fourth quarter. Decatur Central responded on the kickoff as Fa’rel Carter went 95 yards to the house to put the Hawks up 20-13 with 2:07 left in the game. Bloomington South had one more chance and Duncan Combs was picked off by Fa’rel Carter who took it 35 yards to the house with 1:18 left to seal the win for the Hawks. Bo Polston finished 17-29 for 188 yards passing with 1 touchdown Pass. Braylen Townsend finished with 189 on 33 carries and a touchdown for the Panthers.   Townsend broke the school record for most rushing yards in a season with 2,162, topping the 2,030 by Kristian Pechac in 2016.  For Bloomington South Duncan Combs will return at Quarterback as a Junior next season as Bloomington South rang up 332 yards of offense, but Combs was picked off three times, twice in the red zone. Combs finished the game 9-24 for 149 Yards Passing and 3 interceptions.

Indiana University Softball announces 2025 regular season schedule The Indiana Softball program has revealed its 2025 schedule. Indiana will open the season with four non-conference road weekends, starting with a tournament at FIU from Feb. 6-9 with games against FIU, Stony Brook, Iowa State and two more games that are to be determined on opponent. Then, the Hoosiers will head to Mexico for the Puerta Vallarta Challenge in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. That will include four games against North Dakota State, Illinois State, Boise State and BYU from Feb. 13-16. From Feb. 20-23, Indiana will go to Texas Tech’s tournament where it will face Texas, Tech, UTEP and UIC. The final road weekend in the non-conference portion will be at Clemson during the last weekend of February and start of March from Feb. 28-March 2. The Hoosiers will play Clemson, Lafayette, East Carolina and one more opponent that is to be determined. During March 7-9, Indiana will host the Hoosier Classic with games against IU Indianapolis, Bowling Green, Western Michigan and UIC. Prior to the start of Big Ten play, Indiana will host Butler and USI for midweek games on March 11 and 12, respectively.

Then, from March 15-16 Indiana will host Iowa for the beginning of the Big Ten schedule. Other home conference weekends include Penn State (March 21-23), Maryland (April 5-7) and Oregon (April 25-27). For conference road opponents, Indiana will go to Ohio State (March 29-31), Wisconsin (April 11-13), Nebraska (April 18 & 19) and Purdue (May 2-4). The Hoosiers will also have midweek games at Notre Dame (March 18) and at home against Louisville (April 9) and Ball State (April 23). The Big Ten Tournament will be from May 7-10 and hosted by Purdue. The NCAA Tournament’s Regional round will be from May 15-17 and the Super Regionals from May 22-24, both being held at campus sites. The Women’s College World Series will be from May 29 to June 6 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Taylor Set to Put Limited Number of Tickets on Sale for #TUSilentNight Taylor Athletics has announced that it will put a limited number of tickets on sale to the public for the upcoming 27th-Annual Ivanhoes Silent Night game slated for Friday, December 6 at 6:00 pm. The tickets will be sold for $10 each, starting at 6:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 26. Tickets can be purchased online at TaylorTrojans.com/SilentNightTickets, or through the Hometown Ticketing fan app. Tickets are for general admission seating and will be available for purchase until sold out. No tickets will be sold at the door.
