Indiana Football Falls to 8th Ranked Cincinnati 38-24

Indiana Football lost to 8th ranked Cincinnati before a sold-out crowd of 52,656 in front of a sold-out Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Hoosiers got off to a 14-0 lead with 5:06 left before halftime as Michael Penix Jr threw two touchdown passes to Peyton Hendershot and Stephen Carr. The game changed when linebacker Micah McFadden was ejected for targeting late in the 2nd quarter. “It was massive and it changed everything” Head Coach Tom Allen Said in his postgame press conference. The momentum shifted Cincinnati scored 10 points before going into the locker room. Cincinnati led 17-14 when Jerome Ford scored his second touchdown run of the day with 5:47 left in the 3rd quarter. DJ Mathews Jr scored for the Hoosiers on 14 yard run to make 24-21 with 21-17. Tre Tucker took the kickoff 99 yards to house to make it 23-21 after a missed extra point. Charles Campbell hit a 49-yard field goal to make it 24-23 with 41 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Cincinnati Quarterback Desmond Ridder found Alec Pierce on 19-yard touchdown pass to make it 30-24 with 12:13 left in the game. Ridder than scored on a 7-yard touchdown run to seal the win for the Bearcats 38-24. Ridder was 20-36 passing for 210 yards along with touchdown and interception. Michael Penix Jr was 17-40 for 244 yards 2 touchdowns and threw 3 interceptions and had MRI done after the game on his injured knee. DJ Mathews Jr had 120 receiving yards with 5 receptions to go with 2 rushes for 28 yards and a touchdown. The Hoosiers had 4 turnovers on the day, two big defensive penalties and botched snap and “This one is on us” Allen Said. Indiana is 1-2 and will travel to Western Kentucky next Saturday Night for 8 PM kickoff on CBS Sports Network. Cincinnati 3-0 will travel to Norte Dame into 2 weeks.  

Indianapolis Colts Fall to Los Angeles Rams 27-24

For the second straight week the Indianapolis Colts fell at home this time to the Los Angeles Rams 27-24. Carson Wentz was 20-31 for 247 yards passing with a touchdown and interception. Wentz went down late in the game with an injury and Jacob Eason came in making his first NFL regular season appearance. Eason went 2-5 15 yards and threw an interception to Jalen Ramsey that sealed the win for the Rams who are 2-0. Rodrigo Blankenship hit 3 field goals and Zach Pascal caught the touchdown pass for the Colts. Matthew Stafford was 19-30 for 278 yards for 2 touchdown passes to Cooper Kupp and interception as Kupp caught 9 passes for 163 yards. Darrell Henderson Jr rushed 13 times for 53 yards and a touchdown. The Colts were down 17-6 with 11:36 left in the 3rd quarter and then took the led when Ashton Dulin recovered fumble on a botched punt in the end zone to make it 21-17 with 14:12 left in the 4th quarter. The Colts are 0-2 and will travel to Tennessee next Sunday 1 pm for a matchup with their division rivals.

Bloomington South and Bloomington North Post Week 5 Wins in HS Football

Bloomington South beat Terre Haute South 20-0 and Bloomington North beat Terre Haute North 35-30 in week 5 of the high school football season in Indiana. Bloomington South is 5-0 and is averaging 35.8 on offense and giving up 14.8 on defense. The Panthers host the 0-5 Southport Cardinals this Friday night at 7:30 PM. Bloomington North is 4-1 and averaging 37.4 points per game and giving up 21.6 on Defense they will travel to 3-2 New Albany this Friday Night for a 7 PM Kickoff. Edgewood is 1-3 and did not play Friday night due to COVID-19 concerns within its program after they canceled the game with South Putnam. Edgewood will travel to 1-4 Indian Creek this Friday for 7 pm Kickoff.

Bloomington Speedway Ends 2021 Racing Season

The Final Night of Racing for the 2021 at the Bloomington Speedway last Friday Night saw Zach Sasser won the super stocks. Brian Pollitt won the Hornets and Tye Mihocko won the 410 Non-Winged Sprints. The Speedway has been opened since 1923 and is the fastest ¼ mile dirt track in the Midwest.
