Los Angeles Sparks Waive Grace Berger just three days after Signing with the Team Players on the fringe of making it in the WNBA are often waived multiple times a season, and Grace Berger is the latest such example. Berger signed with the Los Angeles Sparks on a hardship contract on Tuesday and was subsequently waived on Friday, with Kelsey Plum returning to the lineup. She’s one of dozens of players across the league who have been temporarily signed this season due to a team dealing with multiple injuries, only to be waived when that team reached 10 active players. Berger struggled in her lone appearance as a Spark, going scoreless with 3 turnovers in 16 minutes of action in a blowout loss to the Seattle Storm on Tuesday.
Berger, a 26-year-old guard, was selected with the 7th overall pick in 2023 by the Indiana Fever. She was on the Fever for the 2023 and 2024 seasons but was waived in the offseason. She averaged 3.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in two seasons in the WNBA, shooting 44.1% from the field and 46.2% from three. She spent training camp with the Minnesota Lynx, but was waived after the season began. Now, the former Indiana Hoosier star is once again a free agent.

All-American Honors Continue for Indiana University Baseball A trio of Indiana baseball players were honored by the latest publication to release its 2025 All-American teams. Baseball American provided its All-American and Freshman All-Americans on Friday afternoon, giving a nod to three Hoosiers in the process. Junior outfielder Devin Taylor is on his way to becoming the third unanimous All-American in program history. He was named a First Team selection by Baseball America, joining Ike Irish (Auburn) and James Quinn-Irons (George Mason) as the top three outfielders in the country this season. Taylor’s bat was once again outstanding during the 2025 campaign. He slashed .374/.494/.706 while hitting mostly out of the second spot in the lineup. He had a career high in RBIs (66) while providing his usual supply of home runs (18) and base hits (80). He also stole 12 bags while walking 52 times on the year. It is the fourth All-American honor of the year for Taylor and the sixth in his career. It also puts him within striking distance of program history. Kyle Schwarber and Dustin DeMuth were both unanimous All-Americans in 2014. If Taylor is selected in D1 Baseball’s All-American team, he will become third in IU history to be a unanimous selection.
Redshirt sophomore Korbyn Dickerson – a First Team All-Big Ten selection – was named a Third Team All-American by the outlet. It’s his first career All-American honor after slugging 19 home runs and leading the team with 77 RBIs. He was picked as an All-Big Ten Defensive Team selection in 2025 as well after fielding his spot in center field at a .985 clip. Freshman first baseman Jake Hanley continues to rack up the Freshman All-American honors after his prolific rookie campaign. He was a Second Team Freshman All-American selection (DH) by Baseball America. He also inches closer to becoming just the second freshman in program history to win four Freshman All-American honors in the same season (Josh Pyne – 2022). Hanley, if honored by D1 Baseball, would be the first IU freshman in program history to be selected by all four major outlets in the same season. He would hold the title as Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a unanimous Freshman All-American in the same season.

Fishers Freight Squeak by the Green Bay Blizzard The Fishers Freight hosted the Green Bay Blizzard for Summer Camp Night on Saturday. After a thrilling back-and-forth match, Fishers had the last laugh with a game-winning throw with just four seconds left in the game. They ultimately defeated Green Bay, 57-56. In the First Quarter On the first kickoff, Calum Sutherland scored a deuce to put the Freight up 2-0. With their first possession, Green Bay’s quarterback Max Meylor ran the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. After a successful extra point, the Blizzard went up 7-2. Carlos Davis responded by running in the ball as well, putting the Freight up 8-7 after the ball bounced off the goalpost on the kick. That is how the quarter ended after a stop on the next possession.
In the Second Quarter the Freight drove down the field and after a long pass to Freight newcomer Gourney Sloan, Davis ran the ball in for another touchdown. With a good kick by Sutherland, Fishers went up 15-7. Meylor ran in another touchdown for Green Bay with about three minutes to go in the first half, making it 15-14 after a successful kick. With under a minute to go, the Freight were held to a field goal. They went up 18-14 with a good kick by Sutherland. Meylor threw to TJ Davis in the end zone for a good touchdown late in the half. After a good kick, the Blizzard took their first lead of the game, 21-18. With just two seconds to go, Sutherland kicked a field goal from 34 yards away, to tie the game 21-21 before halftime.
In the Third Quarter the Blizzard scored first in the third quarter with a touchdown by Andre Williams. After a good kick, they had a 28-21 lead. Vincent Espinoza made his Freight debut in the second half with their first possession. After a long drive and with the help of his teammates, Espinoza scored his first Freight touchdown. With another good kick, Fishers tied the game 28-28. TJ Davis scored his second touchdown of the game after catching a pass from Meylor, to make it 35-28.
In the Fourth Quarter Espinoza ran the ball into the end zone just thirty seconds into the fourth quarter and after another good kick by Sutherland, the game was tied again, 35-35. Two minutes later, the Blizzard took a 42-35 lead after a touchdown by Meylor and a good extra point kick. Fishers scored again about halfway through the quarter with another touchdown by Espinoza, however the extra point kick was blocked. Green Bay led 42-41. TJ Davis ran in the next touchdown for Green Bay with just under six minutes to go in the fourth quarter. After a good kick by Andrew Mevis, the Blizzard led 49-41. The Freight made it 49-43 after a safety late in the game. With possession, the Freight drove the ball down the field one last time. After using all three timeouts, Julian Walker caught the ball in the end zone to make it 49-49. Sutherland made it 50-49 with a good kick. Fishers stopped the Blizzard from leaving the end zone on the kickoff, resulting in a rouge. This made it 51-49. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was called on the Freight on the play though. TJ Davis scored again for Green Bay, making it 56-51 with six seconds remaining. With four seconds to go, Espinoza threw a Hail-Mary pass that Sloan jumped up for in the end zone and caught. This won the game for the Freight, 57-56 in walk-off fashion.
Indy Car Announces a New Car is Coming in 2028 After over 13 years of racing Dallara’s DW12 chassis (and its multiple different aero kits), IndyCar announced Saturday that a new car is finally on the horizon. In a press release sent June 21, IndyCar said Dallara will continue as the series exclusive chassis supplier and that extensive planning and collaborative design work is ongoing ahead of the planned introduction of this brand-new car for the 2028 season. IndyCar says this new chassis will “feature a look designed to appeal to a new generation of fans while keeping styling cues recognized by all as an IndyCar Series car.”
This new car will also see some new specifications as well. IndyCar says the car design is projected to reduce the overall weight of the chassis by between 85 and 100 pounds. Additionally, the series plans to introduce a new 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. This is expected to provide more torque and power over the current 2.2-liter V-6 twin turbo formula that has been used since the DW12 was introduced in 2012. Xtrac will continue as the exclusive supplier of transmissions and the new chassis development calls for a gearbox that will be around 25 pounds lighter. Components will also be able to be shared with a future Indy NXT gearbox in order to streamline components for teams involved in both series.
Hybrid technology will remain an integral part of IndyCar’s future. The series says the low-voltage hybrid engine technology is expected to continue to evolve, projecting longer deployment, a greater horsepower gain and overall improved performance. The series also says this new chassis will be “even better suited for racing on all four types of circuits the series visits – superspeedways, short ovals, street circuits and permanent road courses.” In regard to safety, the series says the new chassis will improve the drivers seating position and feature an integrated aero screen and new roll hoop. IndyCar says further information and renderings will be announced at a later date.
“The time has come for a new NTT IndyCar Series chassis,” IndyCar President Doug Boles said. “The DW12 served the series so well, as it provided a combination of phenomenal, wheel-to-wheel racing and critical enhancements to safety. But recent significant updates to the car – from the aero screen to the hybrid power unit – have helped advance the need for a completely new car. We are pleased by what our engineers and Dallara have collaboratively designed and believe it will appeal to the fans and paddock while also upholding our standards of safety and enhancing IndyCar’s on-track competition well into the future.”
