
Indiana University Men’s Soccer Concludes the Exhibition Season With a 3-0 Win Over Louisville The Indiana Hoosiers beat the Louisville Cardinals 3-0 Saturday Night in the second and final preseason Exhibition Game at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Indiana beat Western Michigan 5-0 Monday Night that was played with four 30 minutes halves. Tonight, the game was two 45-minute halves followed by one 20-minute period. The extra time allowed the Hoosiers to give them plenty of options and players available at all positions and good amount of playing time before Thursday’s Regular Season Opener which will be top 15 clash Thursday Night at Home against the Clemson Tigers at 8 PM. Louisville played their second exhibition game after hosting Lindsey Wilson College one week ago. The Cardinals finished 6-7-4 in 2024 and lost in the ACC Tournament to Clemson 3-1. John Michael Hayden beings his 7th season and 11th overall at Louisville. Hayden is 52-42-14 with four NCAA Tournament Appearances. He was the assistant coach at Louisville in 2012 and 2016-18. Hayden was an assistant coach at Lipscomb in 2013-14 and the Associate Head Coach at Xavier in 2015. A Louisville Native who graduated from Trinty High School Hayden played for Indiana from 2003-06 winning back-to-back NCAA Titles in 2003-04 and named to the NCAA All-Tournament College Cup Team in 2004 and a two time All Big-Ten Selection in 2004 and 2006. Louisville will open the season at home this Thursday at 5PM when they host the University of Southern Indiana.
Indiana picked up where they left off Monday Night when Graduate Student Ben Do beat his man down the line and whipped in a cross to Senior Palmer Ault who took on the volley and placed a finish off the post and in to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Louisville had a great chance in the 36th minute when a failed Hoosier trap left Redshirt Sophomore Chase Vazquez streaking behind the defense but his left footed effort from the left side of the box slid wide and out of bounds. Indiana led 1-0 at halftime with both teams taking 5 shots a piece. Indiana Freshman Goalkeeper Judewellin Michel made 1 save while Crown Point, Indiana native Alex Sevtanoff did not make a save for Louisville. The Hoosiers had 2 corner kicks, and the Cardinals had one. Holden Brown who started Monday Night’s match with Western Michigan and played the first 60 minutes against the Broncos came on at halftime to replaced Michel in this match as there is no clear-cut choice for the starting goalkeeper position between the 6-4 Graduate Transfer Brown and 6-5 Freshman Michel going into the season opener against Clemson. Nathniel Abraham a 6-2 Freshman from Toronto, Ontario Canada replaced Seventoff with 30 minutes left in the second half in the goal for Louisville.
Indiana added a second goal in the 62nd minute when Junior Collins Oduro makes a great overlapping run into the box and finds Sophomore Charlie Heuer who smashes it home to give the Hoosiers a 2-0 lead. Indiana made It 3-0 in the 77th minute as Freshman Colton Sawn scored when Clay Murador played a pass into the box and Sawn poked it in for his second goal of the preseason. The play was set up when a diagonal ball to Alex Barger looked like it was going out of bounds but with one touch, he found Murador who found Swan who found the back of the net. Sophomore Goalkeeper Liam McClen who replaced Abraham for the extra 20 minutes. The Hoosiers outshot the Cardinals 16-7 as Michel and Brown made one save each for Indiana and the Cardinals had two saves one each for Abraham and McClen as Indiana had 8 Corner Kicks to 2 for Louisville. Indiana doesn’t rebuild they reload and with the Hoosiers scoring eight goals in their two preseason matches and not allowing any goals with two new goalkeepers to the program after JT Harms graduated following last season. Indiana looks solid heading into the opener against Clemson and Hoosiers always play a tough schedule no matter if it is preseason or regular season, but the Hoosiers are always going to be in the conversations as they have for years and years as one of the best teams in the country.
Indianapolis Colts Drop Second Preseason Game to the Green Bay Packers at Lucas Oil Stadium The Indianapolis Colts lost to the Green Bay Packers, 23-19, in the second preseason game of the season. The Colts quarterback competition took center stage at Lucas Oil Stadium. Colts quarterback Daniel Jones played in the first two drives of the game. He led the Colts to a field goal in the second drive of the game. He was 7/11 passing for 101 yards. Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. led the Colts on a 90-yard touchdown drive in his first drive of the game. Richardson was 5/6 passing for 64 yards on the drive, plus a nine-yard rush. Running back Tyler Goodson punched in the touchdown on a three-yard rush.
On the last Colts drive of the first half, Richardson completed a beautiful deep ball to Anthony Gould for 38 yards, but it was called back due to an AD Mitchell offsides penalty. Richardson’s final passing line was 6/11 for 73 yards. The Colts list of injuries continued to grow on Saturday. Safety Hunter Wohler (foot), offensive tackle Blake Freeland (leg), offensive tackle Braden Smith (groin), and running back Tyler Goodson (elbow) all left the game. Freeland was carted off the field and the entire Colts bench went onto the field to show their support. The Colts play the Cincinnati Bengals on the road on Saturday, August 23 to wrap up their preseason schedule.
Taylor University Volleyball Cruises to a Pair of Victories to Close Out Palm Beach Juniors Classic Two victories on Saturday led by a combined .364 between the matches against Florida National and Florida College pushed the Trojans to 4-0 this year. Taylor cruised to a sweep of Florida National (0-3) to begin the day. TU hit an impressive .450 in the match, with 45 kills to eight errors and nine service aces.
The Trojans jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opener to set the tone. McKaylah Flagle delivered three of her five service aces in the stretch and Daya Vestal notched the first two of eight kills throughout the match. The second set saw Taylor (4-0) create another early lead as Vestal and Shaye Watson hammered home five kills in the first eight points. The Conquistadors got within four at 10-14 but The sophomore duo of Vestal and Watson combined for 11 kills in the set to push Taylor to a 25-14 win. The third and final set was all knotted at eight before Taylor pulled away and won convincingly at 25-13. Mackenzie Rogers got her first taste of college volleyball and excelled with six kills in eight attempts playing the final two sets.
TU continued its impressive play with victory over Florida College (1-3) in four sets to complete play at the Palm Beach Juniors Classic undefeated. A decisive first set went in favor of the Trojans at 25-13, as Suzanne Story had three consecutive service aces and setters Lindsay Springer and Margo Hernandez sprayed the ball around efficiently. The second set saw more resistance as an early TU was erased with a 5-1 run by the Falcons to put the Trojans behind for the first time in the match. A trio of points gave Taylor the lead and the teams traded points most of the way until a 4-1 run to close the set gave the Trojans the win. An early 6-0 run by Florida College (1-3) put Taylor in its biggest hole of the day at 8-2, but an immediate response sparked by a pair of kills by Ellie Frey flipped the score to 13-10 in favor of the Trojans. The set of runs continue with the squads trading them and fittingly a 7-3 run finished the set for the Falcons. The Trojans slowly built a lead and ran away with the set and match as Frey collected four of her 17 kills in the final set. The Trojans continued their strong net presence, recording 11 blocks led by Alexa Mader with six. The Trojans have a week off before playing in the Big Sky Challenge beginning on Friday, August 22 with a match against Evergreen (0-0) at 4:00 pm.
LIV Golf Returning to Westfield in 2026 LIV Golf is headed back to the Indianapolis area in 2026. The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield will host the tournament again, and it is scheduled to be played from August 21-23. The tournament this year is the first time that LIV Golf played a tournament in the state of Indiana. The tournament has been a success this year as well, with grounds passes selling out for the entire weekend. LIV Golf officials are expecting the tournament at The Club at Chatham Hills in 2025 to be the highest attended LIV Golf tournament in the United States in the history of LIV Golf. LIV Golf brings plenty of talent with it to the Indianapolis area, including multiple major champions from the last four years. LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau won one of the majors in 2024, winning the US Open at Pinehurst. LIV Golf’s Jon Rahm won The Masters in 2023, and Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship in 2023. Cameron Smith won The Open at St. Andrews in 2022.
Other Masters champions on the LIV Golf tour include Dustin Johnson (2020), Patrick Reed (2018), Sergio Garcia (2017), Bubba Watson (2012 and 2014), Charl Schwartzel (2011), Phil Mickelson (2004, 2006, and 2010). The LIV Golf tournament at The Club at Chatham Hills in 2025 features concerts from Riley Green and Jason Derulo. In past years, Zac Brown Band, Macklemore, Dan + Shay, and more have performed at LIV Golf events. The Club at Chatham Hills course was architecturally designed by Pete Dye. It was the last one that Dye designed and constructed on site. Dye constructed a handful of other golf courses in the Indianapolis area, including Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel and Brickyard Crossing in Indianapolis. Milk Named the Official Beverage of the IHSAA Calcium. Vitamin D. Protein. Carbohydrates. Electrolytes. All of those essential nutrients are included in a glass of cow’s milk, which is why it has been announced as the new “official beverage” of Indiana high school athletics. Officials with the American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., along with the Indiana High School Athletic Association, made the announcement on Friday. “Milk is a science-backed way to refuel, build muscle, hydrate and strengthen bones, making it the perfect choice for athletes to use to recover and gain a competitive edge in their sport,” Jenni Browning, the CEO at American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., said in a joint news release from the two associations. “We are proud to partner with IHSAA to bring education and nutrition to students across Indiana, while also supporting our state’s dairy farmers.”
The partnership will last three years, according to the release. Perks from the partnership are expected to include Exclusive Winners Drink Milk display posters in all IHSAA high schools and Celebratory milk presented by an Indiana dairy farmer and family at the conclusion of all state championships. “Our goal at IHSAA is to ensure Indiana’s student athletes stay at the top of their game, both physically and mentally, and we are confident milk will give them the boost they need on the court and in the classroom,” Paul Neidig, IHSAA’s commissioner, said in the release. “We look forward to partnering with the American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. to fuel our students and strengthen Indiana’s legacy of high school athletics.” For more information about the partnership, click here.
Washington Mystics Hand the Indiana Fever a One Point Loss at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Notre Dame Graduate Sonia Citron scored 21 points, Kiki Iriafen had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and the Washington Mystics beat the Indiana Fever 88-84 on Friday night. Citron gave Washinton an 80-71 lead with 3:39 remaining with her third 3-pointer. But the Mystics did not make another field goal until Sug Sutton’s basket with 59.8 seconds left for an 85-80 advantage. Trailing 85-82 with 22.6 seconds left, Indiana guard Kelsey Mitchell got into the lane for a layup that came up short. Washington guard Jade Melbourne was fouled and went hit a free throw for a four-point lead. Aliyah Boston made a quick layup at the other end to get Indiana within two with 5.9 seconds left. But Melbourne was fouled again and made both free throws to seal it. Sutton finished with 13 points for Washington (15-18) and Alysha Clark added 11 in her fourth game with the team. Iriafen made her first 3-pointer of the season. Caitlin Clark (right groin) missed her 21st game of the season for Indiana (18-16). Boston had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Fever. Mitchell added 14 points and nine assists. Natasha Howard and Odyssey Sims each scored 11, and Damiris Dantas added 10 points. Dantas hit a 3-pointer to beat the third-quarter buzzer and cap an 8-0 run for a 64-62 Indiana lead. The Fever are on the road when they face the Connecticut Sun this afternoon at 1 PM.
