The match was wrestled at nearby Edgewood High School in Ellettsville, Ind. • No. 12 Jacob Moran opened the dual with a 7-3 decision win over Sulayman Bah (125) to put Indiana up 3-0. Indiana University Volleyball beats Oregon Energy comes in waves at Wilkinson Hall. On Friday evening, over 2,000 fans sparked the Indiana volleyball team (20-5, 11-4 B1G) to a fantastic four-set victory (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14) in Bloomington. The Hoosiers picked up their first win over Oregon in program history and completed a 4-0 campaign against the Big Ten’s west coast programs. After a slow first set, IU’s offense began marching a fast rate. Freshman outside hitter Jaidyn Jager won the duel of the Big Ten’s best two freshman attackers. She provided 15 kills (.308 hitting percentage) and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Jager added three blocks and passed tremendously on 25 attempts in serve receive.

Senior outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles (10) and senior opposite hitter Avry Tatum (11) each reached double figures to help finish off the win. It’s the 31st time in the past three years that the two attackers have each had 10+ kills in the same match. On the season, IU is 9-2 when three different players have at least 10 kills. Freshman middle blocker Victoria Gray had one of the cleanest matches in her young career. She had eight kills (no errors) at a .727 hitting percentage. She came through in the clutch with six blocks, one off her career high. The Hoosiers had 11 blocks as a team and also contributed 10 aces. With the win, Alonso-Corcelles became the program’s winningest player in Big Ten action. No player in the 51-year history of IU volleyball has been a part of more conference wins (39) than the 6-foot-2 Spaniard. It’s also just the seventh 20-win season (since volleyball was adopted by the NCAA in 1981) in program history. The Hoosiers return to the court this afternoon for a chance to match two all-time program marks. A win over Maryland would tie program single-season records for regular season wins (21) and Big Ten wins (12) since the sport was formally adopted by the NCAA. First serve comes at Noon ET on B1G+ in Wilkinson Hall.

Indiana University Volleyball Player Candella Alonso-Corcelles makes Big Ten Volleyball History As the final chapter comes to a close in a storied volleyball career at Indiana, senior outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles etched her name in program history on Friday evening at Wilkinson Hall with a 3-1 win over visiting Oregon. The Madrid native helped IU to its 39th conference win since 2022, making her the winningest player in Big Ten play in Indiana history. No athlete in the 51-year history of volleyball in Bloomington has been a part of more conference victories (39) than the 6-foot-2 senior outside hitter.

IU has enjoyed its greatest four-year run-in program history since Alonso-Corcelles arrived in Bloomington in 2022. She joined the team as a three-rotation opposite hitter but has blossomed into one of the league’s elite six-rotation left-side attackers. Of IU’s four-person senior class, she’s the only one to play her entire career with the Hoosiers. During her senior season, Alonso-Corcelles has paired up with fellow senior Avry Tatum to help change the culture of the program. With a young roster around the senior duo, IU has soared to new heights in 2025. The Hoosiers have put together their seventh 20-win season in program history (since the NCAA began sponsoring volleyball in 1981) and are destined to break a NCAA Tournament drought that dates back to 2010. In her four seasons at IU, Alonso-Corcelles has produced 1,293 kills, 729 digs, 1,505 points, 192 blocks and 92 aces. She’s top-10 in program history in kills (1,293) and has turned into a complete player with her defensive skills. As the season winds down, Alonso-Corcelles will have a shot at breaking the program’s all-time wins record. She needs just three more wins to become the winningest player in IU history.
