Oliver Moller-Jensen Braces No. 4 Indiana University Men’s Soccer Big Ten Title Hopes Indiana men’s soccer (13-1-3, 6-1-2 B1G) remains tied atop the Big Ten Conference table going into Wednesday’s final match after Oliver Moller-Jensen led the Hoosiers to a 3-1 win at No. 17 UCLA Friday night. Moller-Jensen took part in all three Hoosier goals, assisting Charlie Heuer’s opener before bagging his fourth brace of the season. The third year forward put the match away with a long-distance chip from nearer to midfield than goal. So, the Hoosiers sit in the driver’s seat ahead of Big Ten decision day. With 20 points, Indiana sits tied for first with Washington – a team it beat earlier in the slate. A win guarantees at least a share of its 20th Big Ten regular season championship as well as the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, though a myriad scenarios remain open on the way to another conference title. IU will host Michigan State – currently three points short of the Hoosiers – in Wednesday’s ultimate match on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and fans can purchase tickets here.
In the 17th minute the opening goal sequence began with IU defender Nick McHenry running down a Bruin at midfield and dispossessing him. The ball came to Wes Carnevale, who passed to Moller-Jensen on the right wing. Moller-Jensen dribbled into the box, backed down a defender and passed across the six-yard box to Heuer, who slid in front of his marker and put it in. to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead. In the 32nd minute as he attempted to score a rebounded shot, Moller-Jensen was pushed from behind in the box and won a penalty kick. Moller-Jensen stepped to the spot, sent the keeper the wrong way and finished into the right side of the goal to double IU’s lead to 2-0. Two minutes later UCLA responded minutes later from a free throw, as the ball came to Adrian Aguilar in the box. The Bruin midfielder wriggled in the box and fired a left-footed finish through the Hoosier defense to make it 2-1 Hoosiers.
In the 63rd Minute Indiana goalkeeper Michal Mroz added to his catalogue of great saves in preserving the one-goal lead. Josh Maher ended up on the floor from a 50-50 challenge, giving the UCLA forward a one-on-one chance with Mroz. Mroz got off his line well and made a sliding clearance as the Bruin took his shot. In the 72nd off a UCLA sub and throw-in, Moller-Jensen quickly dispossessed the Bruins in their own half. Moller-Jensen tried to play Easton Bogard ahead of him, but the ball went through as he kept running. So, Moller-Jensen played himself through. With the keeper way off his line, the Hoosier forward fired a long chip from the right side of the field, and the ball sailed over the keeper and tucked into the far side of goal. as the Hoosiers lead 3-1.
Indiana improved to 3-0-1 against Top 25 opponents this season, with victories against No. 16 Washington (1-0), No. 4 Maryland and now at No. 17 UCLA (3-1) plus a draw at Wisconsin (1-1). Todd Yeagley improved to 64-39-21 against ranked opponents as IU head coach. Through 17 matches, Indiana has not allowed multiple goals in a game. Oliver Moller-Jensen improved his season totals to 12 goals, five assists and 29 points. His 12 goals double his previous career-high from his 2025 junior season at FAU. Moller-Jensen’s second goal marked his milestone 20th career goal. He now has 20 goals, 17 assists and 57 points for his career. Friday night was Moller-Jensen’s fourth multi-goal performance, having bagged braces against Notre Dame, Penn State, Kentucky and now, at UCLA. Heuer scored his third goal of the season and eighth of his career. It came as his first since October 2 against No. 4 Maryland. Indiana delivered UCLA’s first defeat at home this season, as the Bruins moved to 6-1-2 in Los Angeles. Indiana will host Michigan State in the final match of the regular season, Wednesday, November 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET
Toughness, Grit Shine in Ranked Reverse Sweep for Indiana University Women’s Volleyball There’s so much fight in this program. Even with its backs against the wall, after a disastrous second set, the Indiana volleyball team (13-7, 6-5 Big Ten) turned around one of the best comebacks in recent memory to pick up a massive road victory. The Hoosiers rattled off the final three sets in dominant fashion to close out a reverse sweep (19-25, 15-25, 25-15, 25-19, 15-7) of 25th-ranked Michigan State on Friday evening at the Breslin Center. IU’s comeback win is the third ranked win of the season and the seventh in the last two years. The reverse sweep was the first since last year’s season opener and the first over a ranked team in program history. After losing two five-set matches in Big Ten play this year, IU finally came out on the other end of one. It’s the 18th reverse sweep by the Hoosiers in school history.
Service pressure rose to a whole new level following the intermission. Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic had a record night from the end line, providing eight service aces. Those eight aces are the most by an IU player in the rally-scoring era and tied for the second most in a single match in program history. She dished out 44 assists and grabbed nine digs while setting the team to a .277 hitting percentage (55-19-130). Nothing could have happened in East Lansing if not for a gritty defensive effort from the Hoosiers. IU won the blocking battle (12.0-9.0) behind a season high nine rejections from fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry. She added 10 kills and finished just shy of her second career double-double. Second-year libero Audrey Jackson shifted back into the libero jersey and had a career high 16 digs.
Fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum helped spark a resurgent offensive effort in the latter half of the match. She had 15 kills, one of three Hoosiers in double figures. Second-year outside hitter Jaidyn Jager responded from a slow start to turn in 14 kills. All five primary attackers had at least six kills. Head coach Steve Aird matched a program record with his 12th ranked win as the head coach of the Hoosiers . His eight ranked road wins are far and away a program record already. IU will look to complete a 2-0 weekend tomorrow night (Oct. 31) in Ann Arbor against Michigan. First serve is set for 7 p.m. on B1G+.
An offensive explosion got the ball rolling in IU’s comeback victory. After hitting under .200 in the opening two sets, IU responded by hitting .320 or better in the final three frames. That includes a blistering .438 (8-1-16) fifth set where IU sided out at 71 percent. A tough defensive effort was big for the Hoosiers on Friday evening. IU had an advantage in digs (49-47) and blocks (12.0-9.0) while winning the long rallies. Fifth-year opposite hitter Avry Tatum (15 kills, 6 blocks, 6 digs) and fifth-year middle blocker Kiki Granberry (10 kills, 9 blocks) stepped up late for the Hoosiers.
IU pulled off a reverse sweep of No. 25 Michigan State on Friday (Oct. 30) evening after winning the final three sets of the match. It’s the first time IU has done so since beating Miami (Fla.) to begin the 2025 campaign last year. It’s the first reverse sweep of a Big Ten opponent since 2011 (vs. Iowa – Nov. 12, 2011) and the first against a ranked opponent in program history. Head coach Steve Aird guided his team to a 12th ranked win during his tenure in Bloomington. The win matches a program record for ranked wins by a head coach. His eight ranked road wins are by far the most by any head coach in IU history. Over the last two seasons, IU has won seven top 25 matches, the most in a two-year span in program history.
Second-year setter Teodora Krickovic recorded eight aces in the win over the Spartans, by far a career high during her time in college. The eight aces are the most by any IU player in a rally-scoring era (since 2001) and are tied for the second most ever in a match in program history. Ironically, the single-match record is held by Jill Kerkhoff in a match against Michigan State (9 – Nov. 28, 1992). The Hoosiers scored points in a number of ways, including at the net and at the end line. For the first time this year, and second time in the past three years, IU recorded double-digit blocks (12.0) and aces (11) in the same match. The last time IU did that in a road match was also in East Lansing (Nov. 24, 2023). IU’s 11 aces are the most in a Big Ten match since that same contest against the Spartans (14 – Nov. 24, 2023).
Second-year libero Audrey Jackson moved back into the jersey for the first time this season and made a big difference. She recorded a career high 16 digs and added four assists. Four different players had at least six digs in the win for the Hoosiers. Since the beginning of the 25-point rally-scoring era (2008), IU’s seven points allowed in set five are the fewest in a full-length match. The Hoosiers have played four five-set matches this season (2-2). In all of them, the losing team has failed to reach 10 points in the final frame.
