Indiana Department of Workforce Development
The state of Indiana has announced more information regarding unemployment claims under the now expired CARES Act. Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, available to those who exhausted standard state benefits, will begin offering vouchers on Fri., Jan. 22. Info on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, issued benefits to the self-employed and others who don’t typically qualify for state aid, will be available over the coming days.
On Dec. 27, 2020, President Trump signed into law the CAUWA, new legislation designed to continue unemployment insurance benefits for those who were receiving relief from the CARES Act, which expired on Dec. 26, 2020. While the new Act continues many of the same or similar programs, it also includes some changes, as well as an entirely new program. While some of the details have been defined, there is still additional information the Indiana Department of Workforce Development is awaiting from the U.S. Department of Labor to implement the changes.
