Indiana Men’s Basketball Ends Crossroads Classic With 64-59 Win Over Notre Dame
The Indiana Men’s Basketball beat Norte Dame 64-59 in the final game ever in the Crossroads Classic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Saturday Afternoon. The annual doubleheader is ending after 11 seasons due to contractual issues and scheduling conflicts with the universities. Indiana finishes the event 8-3 all time which is the best record while Notre Dame finishes 4-7 which ties Purdue for the worst.  

The Irish led 27-24 with 3:15 left before half when Indiana made a run and led 30-27 at halftime.  Indiana was leading 45-35 with 11:41 left in the game before the Irish went on 11-1 run and tied the game 46-46 with 6:51 left. Indiana was able to hang out and close it out. The Hoosiers were without Freshman Tamar Bates who went back to Kansas City Kansas to attend the funeral of a family member. Rob Phinsee scored 6 points pulled down 5 rebounds and had 5 assists. Anthony Leal had three assists in 16 minutes of action to help the Hoosiers.

Indiana was led by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Parker Stewart had 12 points, while Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson had 12 points each. Indiana was 21-48 for 43 percent from the field, 8-20 from three for 40 percent, and 14-22 from the foul line for 63 percent. Indiana pulled down 35 rebounds, 16 assists, 5 steals, 5 blocks, and committed 14 turnovers.

Norte Dame 4-5 was led in scoring by Dane Goodwin who had 15 points, Blake Wesley had 14 points and Paul Aktinson Jr added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Norte Dame was 21-58 from the field for 36 percent, 4-22 for 18 percent from the three-point line and 10-13 from the free throw line for 77 percent. The Irish pulled down 32 rebounds, 5 assists, 9 steals, and committed 14 turnovers.

Indiana is 9-2 on the season and hosts Northern Kentucky on Wednesday at 7pm inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Indiana Women’s Basketball Beats Western Michigan 67-57
10th ranked Indiana Women’s Basketball held off Western Michigan 67-57 Sunday Afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Indiana led 33-27 at halftime. Mackenzie Holmes continued her amazing season with a 17 point and 19 rebound performance along with 4 blocks. Holmes has 10 double-doubles in her career and the 19 rebounds was 10th most in a single game and most since Alexis Gassion pulled down 20 on December 17, 2016. Grace Berger added 16 points and Ali Patberg added 13. The bright spot was Kiandra Browne with 9 points and a career high 10 rebounds off the bench.

Indiana was 23-59 from the field for 39 percent, 2-16 from three-point range for 12 percent, and 19-29 from the free throw line for 65.5 percent. Indiana pulled down 47 rebounds, 11 assists, 11 steals, 5 blocks. and 11 turnovers.

Western Michigan 6-3 was without leading scorer Lauren Ross but the Broncos filled the void with Reilly Jacobson leading the way with 16 points, Taylor Williams 15 points and 13 rebounds and Lauren Shafer 10 points. Western Michigan was 22-58 from the field for 38 percent, 8-25 from three-point range for 32 percent and 5-7 from the free throw line for 71 percent. The Broncos pulled down 29 rebounds, 11 assists, 8 steals, 3 blocks and committed 15 turnovers.

Indiana 9-2 on the season host Wright State tomorrow night at 7pm in the second of 3 home contests this week before the Christmas break.

Purdue Handles Butler in First Game in Crossroads Classic Doubleheader
The Number 3 ranked Purdue Boilermakers rolled to 77-48 win over the Butler Bulldogs in Game 1 of the Crossroads Classic in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Saturday Afternoon. Purdue is 10-1 on the season and finish the classic with a 4-7 record while Butler is 7-4 on the season and finishes the classic with a 6-5 record.

Purdue led 14-11 with 10:47 to go in the first half when the Boilers went on a 25-10 run to lead 39-21 at half. Purdue led 72-36 with 5:44 to go which was the largest lead of the game at 36. Purdue was led by Jaden Ivey with 22 points and was 6-6 from the three-point line. Ivey was able to hit from the outside, 7-4 Zach Edey dominated inside with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Edey had 10 points and 10 rebounds at halftime. Trevion Williams scored 10 points for Purdue. The Boilers were 27-52 from the field for 53 percent, 11-22 from three for 50 percent and 12-14 from the line for 85 percent. Purdue pulled down 42 rebounds, 17 assists, 5 blocks, 4 steals and committed 10 turnovers.

Butler was led by Bryce Golden with 17 points and Jayden Taylor added 11 points. The Bulldogs were 19-59 from the field for 32 percent, 4-28 from three for 14 percent and 6-14 from the free throw line for 43 percent. Butler pulled down 27 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks, and committed 7 turnovers.  

Indianapolis Colts beat New England Patriots 27-17 in Saturday Night Showdown
The Indianapolis Colts beat the New England Patriots 27-17 Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Colts led 17-0 at halftime and were ahead 20-0 before the Patriots got on the board. Jonathan Taylor had 29 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown. Carson Wentz was 5-12 passsing for 57 yards with a touchdown pass to Nyhiem Hines and an interception. EJ Speed recovered a blocked punt in the end for a touchdown. Michael Badgley added 2 field goals.

The Patriots end a 7-game winning streak to go 9-5 on the season and there first road of loss of the season winning the first six road games of the year. Rookie Quarterback Mac Jones from Alabama was 26-45 299 yards passing with 2 touchdowns to Hunter Henry and threw 2 interceptions. Nick Folk added a field goal to complete the scoring.

The Colts are 8-6 on the year 4-4 at home and travel to Arizona Christmas Night to take on the Cardinals. The Colts are 4-2 on the road and this is the first win over New England since 2009.
