Big Ten Women’s Basketball Update
The Big Ten has a full schedule lined up this week, with games nearly daily from Wednesday through Sunday. Highlighting this week’s conference slate is a Big Ten Network (BTN)/FOX Sports app doubleheader on Thursday, as Nebraska visits No. 6/5 Indiana and No. 11/10 Michigan travels to Penn State. That’s followed Sunday by a trio of nationally-televised games, all on different networks — the Battle for the Barn Burner Trophy as No. 6/5 Indiana heads to Purdue (2 p.m. ET on FS1), a top-10 showdown when No. 11/10 Michigan ventures to No. 8/8 Maryland (5 p.m. ET on ESPN) and finally Nebraska visits Iowa in a rematch of last weekend’s 95-86 shootout, won by the Hawkeyes in Lincoln (6 p.m. ET on BTN).
Indiana moved up to No. 5 in Tuesday’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/USA Today poll, the highest ranking in the coaches’ poll in program history. For the fourth consecutive week and eighth time in 10 weeks this season, the Big Ten leads all conferences with three teams in the top 10 of one or both major national polls (this week, it’s the WBCA/USA Today poll) — No. 6/5 Indiana, No. 8/8 Maryland and No. 11/10 Maryland. Meanwhile, Iowa, Ohio State and Nebraska are all receiving votes in both polls.
Submissions for the 2022 Hoosier Women Artists exhibition now accepted
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, along with Treasurer Kelly Mitchell and the Indiana Arts Commission, announced details for the 2022 Hoosier Women Artists exhibition. Established in 2008, the Hoosier Women Artists exhibition celebrates the importance of the arts in Hoosier communities and highlights the work of talented female artists throughout Indiana.
A wide variety of visual arts including drawing, painting and photography are welcome to enter. The artwork is selected by a panel that includes Crouch, Mitchell and peer artists coordinated by the Indiana Art Commission. Designees of the Hoosier Women Artists exhibition will have their artwork displayed at the statehouse for one year to be enjoyed by the thousands of school groups, visitors, and staff who explore the building annually. A reception will be held March 3, 2022 at the Indiana Statehouse to honor and showcase the selected artists.
Submissions may be made on the Indiana Art Commission’s Online Application System from today through Jan. 31, 2022. Applicants will need to create a username and password and select Hoosier Women Artists as the program name.
