9th District US Representative Trey Hollinsworth will not seek 4th term
3 term US Representative Trey Hollingsworth, from Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, announced that he will not run for re-election in 2022. Hollingsworth did what too few politicians have done in recent years . . . kept his campaign promise. When first elected to his Congressional seat in 2016, Hollingsworth announced that he would not serve more than 4 terms. He has also co-sponsored proposed Bills intended to create term limits for those serving in the US Congress.
Here is the statement Representative Hollingsworth posted on social media:
“As I contemplate how I can work for you in new and better ways in the future, I won’t run for reelection this year. You deserve a Member of Congress totally and completely focused on the 9th District, and, though I have remained committed to that promise these three terms, now I will fight for you and us in different ways.”
Governor Holcomb delivers State of the State Address
“It is indeed an honor to once again discuss the state of our great state and the work before us as we seek to make life better for all Hoosiers,” Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb stated as he began the annual State of the State Address on Tuesday evening. This was the first time that the Indiana General Assembly has held a joint session since the beginning of the declared health emergency in April of 2020.
“Even as we’re contending with the challenges of a global pandemic, we’re simultaneously strengthening our economy, reskilling our workforce, building out our infrastructure, and enhancing our quality of life,” said Holcomb. “And now, because we’re ready and able, we’re revitalizing and connecting our communities across the state like never before.”
Holcomb outlined that the State’s surplus should reach $5 Billion during the calendar year, and that Indiana has reduced its debt by 34% over the past 4 years. He also focused on the billions invested in education last year, and the impact the funding has had.
“More than 85% of school corporations have raised teacher base salaries by an average of nearly $1,800 during the 2020-2021 school year, and 99% are expected to raise salaries for the current school year,” said Governor Holcomb
