Indiana University Women’s Basketball beats Purdue in overtime
The Indiana Women’s Basketball Team beat Purdue 73-68 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette before a big crowd of 8,505. The Hoosiers were without Forward Mackenzie Holmes, who suffered a knee injury, and Guard Nicole Cardano-Hillary Sunday after she entered ‘Health and Safety Protocol’.
Trailing for most of the game, The Hoosiers found a way to win with Grace Berger scoring 24 points, Aleska Gulbe adding 21 points, Ali Patberg scoring 10 points, Chloe Moore-McNeil scoring 10 points (in her first start), and Kiandra Browne scoring 8 points. Indiana was 27-63 from the field, 6-16 from three-point range 37 %, and 13-18 from the free throw line. IU also pulled down 42 rebounds, had 13 assists, 6 blocks, 4 steals, and committed 11 turnovers.
Purdue was led by Australian guard Abbey Ellis with 19 but missed the first of two foul shots with 1 second left that could have won the game; hitting the second one to send it to overtime.
Purdue led 32-27 at half. Indiana outscored the Boilers 14-9 in 3rd quarter to tie 41 all going to the 4th. Purdue led 55-47 with 3:21 left in the 4th quarter as the Hoosiers used a 13-5 run to get the game to overtime tied at 60-60. Indiana outscored Purdue 13-8 in overtime to seal the win.
Indiana is now 14-2 overall and 6-0 in the Big Ten while the Boilermakers move to 11-6 overall and 2-4 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers extend its win streak in the annual Barn Burner series to six games, dating back to 2017. Win streaks were also kept intact for the Hoosiers, who won its ninth-straight game this season, 12th-straight road game and 15th consecutive Big Ten regular season game. Indiana has not allowed a team to score 70 or more point this season. Newt up, the Hoosiers will host Michigan State Wednesday Night at 7pm.
Mooresville Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography
Troopers from the Bloomington District and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force arrested 20 year-old Bryson Morris of Mooresville man for Distribution of Child Pornography and 9 other Felony charges. The investigation began in October 2021 after Police received a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) cyber tip about suspected child pornography being sent from one Snapchat social media account to another. ISP units went to Morris’s residence and served a search warrant to collect his electronics and interview him. During the interview, his phone was electronically searched and investigators located more images of child pornography. Morris was arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail for Distribution of Child Pornography and several counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

This Week in Hoosier History
1901 – The body of former Governor James A. Mount lay in state in the rotunda of the Indiana Statehouse. The 24th Governor of Indiana, Mount had died only two days after leaving office. Thousands paid their respects at the Statehouse. He was later taken to his hometown of Crawfordsville for burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
