Murder suspect found with traffic stop

Indiana State Police reportedly located a vehicle over the weekend which had been identified as leaving the scene of accident on I65 earlier that evening. 42 year-old Dariel Dodd of Indianapolis was the driver and was immediately suspected of being intoxicated, once pulled over. The Trooper then witnessed Dodd throwing a handgun into a ditch. Dodd was promptly arrested and brought to Tippecanoe County Jail. A couple of days later, Dodd was extradited to Lake County, where he is the suspect in a murder investigation. Dodd has been charged with murder, attempted murder, battery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Holmes receives ‘successful procedure” to her knee
Indiana University Women’s Basketball All-American Forward MacKenzie Holmes has undergone a successful procedure for her injured knee and will immediately undergo rehabilitation. Holmes, IU’s most productive scorer, has missed the past two games due to the unknown knee injury she reportedly suffered during a practice session last week. The Hoosiers have been able to continue their winning streak in her absence, which is not standing at 10 games. Indiana is now 14-2 overall, and 6-0 in the Big Ten Conference. There is no released information regarding the anticipated return of Holmes to the Hoosier line-up

City of Bloomington Employees pass 200 positive Covid cases since March of 2020
The City of Bloomington sent out a press release reporting that, despite all of the health and safety precautions that they have made of the past 20 plus months, 38 additional City Employees have tested positively for Covid-19 this week. The total number of Bloomington City Employees who have reportedly contracted the virus to date, is 232.

This Week in Hoosier History


2000 – A display case for the Indiana Constitutions was dedicated at the Statehouse. Among those at the rotunda ceremony were Governor Frank O’Bannon, Chief Justice Randall Shepard, and State Senator James Merritt. A special guest was Jacqueline Graham Burton, great-great granddaughter of Jonathan Jennings, the state’s first Governor.
