Indianapolis Officer shot, listed in stable condition
31-year-old Mylik Hill has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the shooting of an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer Sunday evening. The unidentified officer remains in the hospital, listed in serious but stable condition.
IMPD were responding to a report of an accident in the 1600 block of Lexington Avenue, around 10pm, when they received additional information, including that a male in a red jacket was exposing himself, and a male in a red vehicle was intoxicated and last seen driving southbound on State Street.
With the help of witnesses, the suspect was found, and began to run away after Officers identified themselves and approached. The suspect then exchanged gun fire with Officers, hitting one.
Hill was also injured by Police fire, and remains in the hospital, in Police custody where he is under arrest for a warrant for theft and resisting law enforcement, as well as a warrant for a parole violation from a conviction for robbery and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Bloomington State Police Post Hiring Civilian Positions
The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for the positions of Regional Dispatcher and Maintenance Repairperson II. Both positions operate out of the State Police Post in Bloomington which is located at 1500 N. Packinghouse Rd. Suite #200.
Job duties for the Regional Dispatcher include being able to process, analyze and dispatch Indiana Data and Communications System (IDACS), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS), and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) information to meet state and federal guidelines, utilizing their precise formats. Successful applicants must be able to receive, record, disseminate, and accurately dispatch information to police personnel, other law enforcement agencies, and other support services through the use of a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Records Management System (RMS), Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), Geographic Information System (GIS) and other Regional Dispatch Center resources. Pay starts at $38,532 per year.
Job duties for the position of Maintenance Repairperson II, include the ability to perform preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and special projects as assigned. To complete work assignments in a timely manner, and in compliance with existing building codes and safety standards. To ensure compliance with all applicable IOSHA rules in the workplace. Must be able to complete work assignments in all of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, cabinetry, concrete pouring and finishing, sheet metal, masonry, and roofing. Candidates must be a high school graduate or possess the equivalent GED. Must possess or obtain Class-A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all required endorsements. Must be properly trained, and possess a proper certification, to perform all job duties. This position will service the Indiana State Police facilities in BOTH the Bloomington and Putnamville Districts. Pay starts at $29, 640 per year.

Register for Becoming an Outdoors Woman
The annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop is April 29 to May 1 at Ross Camp in West Lafayette. The workshop is open to women ages 18 and older and limited to 85 participants. The program is designed for women to learn outdoor skills in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. Participants will choose four activities from more than two dozen offerings, including fishing, archery, geocaching, wilderness survival, natural gardening, wild edibles, wildlife tracking, shooting firearms, and outdoor cooking.
The workshop is for women who have never tried these activities, but have hoped for an opportunity to learn; who have tried them but are beginners hoping to improve; or who know how to do some of the activities, but would like to try new ones. Registration, which opens March 1 and runs until there are 85 registrants, can be done online at Indianabow.com. The cost for the workshop is $250 and includes all equipment, meals, and lodging.
This Week in Hoosier History

1920 – Indiana Education leaders announced that the 30-year school consolidation plan had reduced the number of one-room schools from over 8,000 to less than 5,000. It was noted that Marion County had only nine one-room schools still in operation, while many rural counties, such as Harrison, Monroe, Orange, and Crawford, still had over 125 each.
