Indiana University Men’s Basketball completes comeback to beat Michigan in Big Ten Tournament
Indiana Men’s Basketball used 46-28 2nd half run to beat eight seed Michigan 74-69 in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Thursday. The Hoosiers were down 41-28 at halftime and there NCAA Tournament hopes were fading away when they rallied from 17 down to possibly put themselves on the right side of the NCAA Tournament Bubble with this comeback. Indiana is now 19-12 overall and plays top seed Illinois this morning at 11:30 am in the quarterfinals. Michigan is 17-14 overall and will wait to find out there NCAA tournament fate Sunday at 6pm in the NCAA field of 68 is revealed.

Trayce Jackson-Davis who started the game 0-4 from the field finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Xavier Johnson added 17 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The Hoosiers were down 63-40 with 11:03 left in the game when the Hoosiers went won 31-9 run to close the game. The Hoosiers shot 46% from the field 8-15 from the three-point range for 53% and 14-19 from the free throw line for 73 %.

Michigan was led by 18 Points from Da Vante’ Jones, 17 from Eli Brooks and 15 points from big man Hunter Dickinson who was assessed with a technical foul for saying something to the Indiana players after scoring a basket. Dickinson made a gesture after he hit a three pointer early in the game. Moussa Diabate pulled down 12 rebounds. Michigan shot 40% from the field, 6-20 from three-point range and 19-21 for 90% from the free throw line.

Indiana avenges a loss to Michigan from January 23rd, when the Wolverines beat the Hoosiers 80-62 in Bloomington. The Hoosiers will look to avenge a loss to Illinois from February 5th, when the Fighting Illini beat the Hoosiers 74-57 in Bloomington.

Bloomington North Boys Basketball competes in Seymour Regional
Bloomington North 22-3 Boys Basketball will face Evansville North 16-10 in the first game in Seymour Regional Semifinal tomorrow at 10:30 am. Game 2 will feature Floyd Central 20-4 taking Franklin 11-14 at 12:30 with the Championship game scheduled for 8 pm tomorrow night. Bloomington North won the sectional for the first time since 2014 knocking off Bloomington South 32-28 in overtime last Saturday Night in the Martinsville Sectional.

Bloomington North and Evansville North met on January 21, in Evansville and Cougars won 54-44. Bloomington North beat Floyd Central 51-48 on February 19th, and Franklin 68-42 on December 18th at home. The Cougars are on a 15-game winning streak since losing to Bedford North Lawrence 48-40 on December 28th in the final of the Bedford North Lawrence Tournament. The Cougars lost at Mooresville 58-52 on December 10th, and Monroe Central 73-64 in the finals of the Connersville Tournament December 23rd.

Bloomington North is 85-48 all time in state tournament play. The Cougars won their 17th sectional in school history. The Cougars are looking for their 7th regional title in school history. The won in 1982,1997, 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2014. The Winner advances to the Semi State Next Saturday at Seymour or Washington. Bloomington North won the Semi State in 1997 and 2000 and won the 1997 State Championship which was the last one class state championship in Indiana High School Basketball.

Indianapolis Indians announce 2022 TV broadcast schedule
DuJuan McCoy, Owner, President, and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting (parent company of WISH-TV and My INDY-TV 23 and Randy Lewandowski, President and General Manager of the Indianapolis Indians, today announced the Indians’ 2022 broadcast schedule. WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 will air 35 games, the first telecast will be the club’s season opener on Tuesday, April 5 on MyINDY-TV 23.

“Circle City Broadcasting is thrilled to continue our partnership with the Indianapolis Indians and provide our viewers a front row seat to Triple-A baseball,” said DuJuan McCoy, Owner, President and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting said in Press Relase. “This further expands our sports lineup on MyINDY-TV 23 and WISH-TV, solidifying our commitment as Indiana’s local sports stations.”

“The Indianapolis Indians are eager to showcase Indians baseball and Victory Field to Central Indiana households on WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV 23 this season,” said Randy Lewandowski, Indians President and General Manager in Release. “Circle City Broadcasting serves more than one million households. With 35 telecasts, we are able to bring the excitement of Indians baseball directly into the homes of our great fans on a regular basis.”

The full 2022 broadcast lineup is available on WISHTV.com. MyINDY-TV 23 is also the local broadcast home to Indy Eleven and a robust schedule of IHSAA high school sports contests. MyINDY-TV 23 and sister station WISH-TV collectively broadcast over 100 live sporting events per year.

Indiana Fever Acquire Draft Picks from Dallas Wings
The Indiana Fever announced the team acquired the No. 4 and No. 6 overall picks in the 2022 WNBA Draft, as well as the 2023 first round pick from the Dallas Wings. In exchange, Indiana agreed to trade center Teaira McCowan, the 2022 No. 7 overall pick and Chicago’s 2023 first round pick to Dallas. The Fever now own the No. 2, No. 4, No. 6 and No. 10 overall selections in the first round of this year’s draft picks. If all picks are made by Indiana, the Fever would become the first franchise in WNBA history to make four first round selections in the same WNBA draft.

“We thank Teaira for all she did with the Fever franchise in her three years with the organization and wish her the best moving forward. This was a trade offer that made sense for both teams as we head into the 2022 regular season and we are now focused on 2, 4, 6 and 10,” Interim General Manager and Senior Advisor for Basketball Operations Lin Dunn said in Press Release.

“I want to thank Teaira for her contributions to our team for the past three years and wish her well in Dallas as she returns to her home state to continue her career,” Head Coach Marianne Stanley said in Press Release.
