Indiana Women’s Basketball #3 seed, will host NCAA Tournament games
Indiana Women’s Basketball will appear in its third consecutive NCAA Tournament as it was selected as an at-large berth into the field on Sunday night. The Hoosiers will be the #3 seed in the East Region (Bridgeport, CT), and will host #14 seed Charlotte in NCAA First and Second Round action at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Their 3 seeding is the highest in school history as it improves off last season’s 4 seeding. For the first time ever, NCAA women’s basketball tournament games will be played inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall with #6 Kentucky and #12 Princeton will also face-off in Bloomington on Saturday.
The Hoosiers will play in its eighth NCAA Tournament in school history. Indiana (22-8) is 6-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. They are off the heels of its first Big Ten Tournament championship game appearance in 20 years, making a run in the league’s postseason tournament as the $ 5 seed. Last season, Indiana advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in program history which also included upsetting top-seeded North Carolina State in the Sweet Sixteen. All -Session and single game general admission tickets will go sale on this morning at 10am through the IU Ticket office. A select number of reserved seats will be available later this week.
Indiana Men’s Basketball to play Wyoming in Dayton Ohio in NCAA First Four Game
For the first time since 2016 The Indiana Men’s Basketball Team is in the NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers and the Wyoming Cowboys were the last two at large teams selected as a number 12 seed in East Region and will face off Tuesday Night in Dayton Ohio in the First Four at 9:10pm. The game will be the second part of doubleheader with 16 seeds Texas Southern and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi will face off in the Midwest Region Game which starts at 6:40 pm and both games are televised on TRU TV.
Indiana is 20-13 while Wyoming is 25-8 and compete in the Mountain West Conference. The winner will travel to Portland Oregon to face the 5th seed Saint Mary’s Gales on Thursday at 7:20 pm. Saint Mary’s is 25-7 overall and competes in the West Coast Conference.
Bloomington North Boys Basketball wins Regional Championship
For the first time 2014 the Bloomington North Boys Basketball team are Regional Champions after beating Franklin 75-69 Saturday Night in Seymour for the title. Franklin who entered the game with a sub 500 record knocked off Floyd Central 58-51 in the second semifinal game. Bloomington North beat Evansville North 63-45 in the first semifinal game. Bloomington North has won 17 in a row and schools seventh regional title in school history
The Cougars are 24-3 on the season and will play Indianapolis Cathedral 24-6 for the Class 4A Southern Semi State Championship on Saturday at 3 PM at the Hatchet House in Washington.
Bloomington North Girls Gymnastics finishes 7th In state meet
Bloomington North Girls Gymastics scored 106.150 points to place 7th in the IHSAA State Gymnastics Finals at Worthen Arena on the Ball State University Campus in Muncie on Saturday. Crown Point won the title with 111.475 points with Homestead placing second with 110.350 points.
Haiven Gipson Of Harrison (West Lafayette) won the Vault, Ashtyn Evans of Angola won the Bars and Emily Moore of Columbus North won the Floor and the Beam with Sofia Garcia of Bloomington North finishing 9th. Moore also took home the All-Around.
