IUMBB beats Wyoming and advances to First Round of NCAA Tournament
Indiana University Men’s Basketball survives their Opening Round challenge and enters the field of 64, beating Wyoming 66-58. The pair of 12 seeds battled in Dayton, Ohio with the opportunity to advance to the First Round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, facing Saint Mary’s on Thursday.

It was a defensive grind on Tuesday night, with the halftime score edging Indiana 30-25. By that time, IU had already forced 10 Wyoming turnovers, but the Hoosiers were having a difficult time finding the basket in the paint. Fortunate for them, they were receiving multiple second chance opportunities.

IU Sophomore Forward Trayce Jackson-Davis exploded for the Hoosiers, scoring 29 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Jordan Geronimo came off of the bench to score 15 points and add 7 rebounds. IU shot 42% from the field, but only 60% from the free-throw line.

Wyoming was led by Guard Hunter Moldonado with 21 points. The Cowboys shot 44% from the field, but turned the ball over 19 times, and were out rebounded by the Hoosiers 39-30.

Indiana Baseball beats Kentucky 20-7
The Indiana Baseball Team beat the University of Kentucky 20-7 Tuesday Night at Bart Kaufman Field. The Hoosiers pounded out 23 hits, 19 RBI’s and 6 Home Runs. Indiana was walked eight times and had nine doubles. Edgewood Grad Luke Hayden got the start giving up 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and 2 hits in one inning of work. Ryan Kraft got the win and Grant Holderfield got the save for the Hoosiers as the pitching staff struck out 15 Wildcat batters. Indiana is 7-9 on the season and 4-0 at Bart Kaufman Field.

Kentucky had 10 hits, 7 RBI’s, a double, a triple, and a home run. Kentucky batters was walked 8 times and the pitching staff struck out eight Hoosier batters. The Game was tied 4-4 after one inning. The Hoosiers scored in every inning and Kentucky did not score again until the top of the fifth when they scored 3 more runs but at the end of the 5th Indiana was leading 11-7. Seth Louge takes the loss for Kentucky as he falls to 1-1 on the season and the Wildcats are 14-4 on the year.

Indiana changes weekend baseball schedule with Xavier
With wet weather projected all day on Friday, the Indiana baseball program has announced a schedule change for the weekend series at Bart Kaufman Stadium versus Xavier. The two teams will now play a single game on Thursday (March 17th), Saturday (March 19th), and a doubleheader on Sunday (March 20th).
 
The new schedule is as follows:
Thursday, March 17 – 6pm
Friday, March 18 – no game
Saturday, March 19 – Noon (single game)
Sunday, March 20 – Noon (doubleheader)
 
Parking for the weekend will remain the same, with lots around Bart Kaufman Field remaining open for patrons to park. There will be no access to Lot 13 due to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. For tickets, the Friday ticket will now be valid for entry on Thursday night. Saturday will be free to the public and Sunday’s ticket will be valid for both games of the doubleheader.

Indiana Women’s Golf finishes 17th In South Carolina
The Indiana University Women’s Golf team shot a 913 (299-309-305; +49) at the Briar’s Creek Invitational at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek to finish 17th overall in the event. The #47-ranked Campbell Camels ran away with the team victory after shooting an 853 (281-288-284; -11) over 54 holes. Nathalie Irlbacher of Boston College won the individual event title after shooting a 5-under par 211. Freshman Aine Donegan once again finished inside the top-20 of the individual standings after shooting a 220 (72-77-71; +4). She was the lone Hoosier to card a round under par during the tournament with her final round of 71 (-1). She converted two birdie attempts during the round on #3 and #7. She tied for 18th. Freshman Margret Fernandez tied for 70th with a three-round score of 232 (74-76-82; +16). Junior Valerie Clancy finished one stroke behind Fernandez to place 76th. She fired a 233 (80-76-77; +17) for the week. She played one birdie (No. 1) in the final round. Senior Alexis Miestowski tied for 82nd after playing a scorecard of 235 (78-80-77; +19). Fifth-year senior Mary Parsons finished t-88th with a final tally of 237 (75-82-80; +21). Indiana will play its penultimate regular season of the 2021-22 season at the Chattanooga Classic from March 27-29th at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga. IU will close out the regular season as hosts of the IU Invitational from April 9-10 at The Pfau Course.

Indiana Women’s Swimming and Diving to compete in NCAA Championships
#14 Indiana will compete in the 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Today through Saturday inside McCauley Aquatic Center on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The competition kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. ET with the finals of the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Freestyle Relay. The entirety of the event will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Eleven athletes, eight swimmers and three divers, from IU are set to appear as individuals in the four-day event. Indiana will also participate in all five relays. IU diving secured a total of eight bids from its three athletes. Senior Kristen Hayden and sophomore and reigning NCAA Platform Champion Tarrin Gilliland earned spots in all three events, and sophomore Anne Fowler will feature in each of the two springboard contests. Including the five relays, IU has swimmers in 15 events. Freshman and Big Ten 200 Breaststroke Champion Brearna Crawford is slated to race the 200 breast, the 100 breast and 200 IM. 2022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Anna Peplowski will swim the 200 Freestyle and the 100 and 200 Backstroke events.

Indiana is amidst its most successful NCAA Championships run in program history, finishing inside the top-15 in 13 straight seasons. The Hoosiers have totaled 11 individual titles over the last seven championships, the most prolific stretch authored by a Big Ten team in league history. IU is also the first team in conference history to win an individual title in seven consecutive seasons. A year ago, sophomore Tarrin Gilliand won the NCAA Platform Championship in her freshman season with a mark of 338.40, making her the third Hoosier woman to win the event at the national meet.
