
Former Indiana Men’s Basketball Player Juwan Morgan advances to NBA Finals with Boston Celtics
Former Indiana All-Big Ten performer Juwan Morgan, a member of the Boston Celtics playoff roster, made the 2022 NBA Finals presented by YouTubeTV. The Celtics will take on the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco at 9 pm this evening on ABC. Morgan has appeared in 52 NBA games in his three-year NBA career with the Utah Jazz (2019-21), the Toronto Raptors (2021-22) and the Boston Celtics (2021-22). He has played in 14 total playoff games, with five coming this season.
Prior to the 10-day contract he signed with the Celtics, Morgan appeared in 29 games with the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G-League affiliate, including 19 starts. He is averaging 12.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He has also charted nearly a steal and a block per game for the Celtics. Morgan is shooting 51.0% from the field and 34.2% from the 3-point line.
During his four-year stint with the Hoosiers, Morgan accumulated 1,374 career points to rank 25th in IU scoring lore. He is 10th in program history in career rebounds with 757 and eighth in blocked shots at 138 for his career. Morgan was twice named to the All-Big Ten team. He was a second-team selection following his junior season and a third-team honoree the following season.

Indiana University Women’s Golf adds Transfer Dominika Burdová
Indiana women’s golf head coach Brian May announced the addition of transfer Dominika Burdová on Wednesday. “Really excited to add Dominika to the Hoosier family,” said May in Press Release. “She is a true competitor who is ready to come in and make an immediate impact.”

Burdová joins the Hoosier women’s golf team after playing two seasons at Gardner Webb after a successful high school career for head coach Ondrej Lébl. She helped propel her team to a third-place finish in the Czech National Championship of High Schools. As an individual, Burdová claimed victories at the Faldo Series 2019 Czech Championship and Grabmasters 2020. She also finished with runner-up honors in both the Czech International Junior Amateur Championship and the Czech International Match Play Championship in 2021.
Previously this week, Burdová finished as the runner up in the Czech International Match Play Championship.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs placed second at the 2021 Big South Championships. She was twice named to the Dean’s List. Her two-year career average checks in at 75.4 strokes per round with a head-to-head winning percentage of nearly 70%. Burdová started playing the game of golf at five years old and enjoys playing floorball and riding horses. She will have three years of eligibility remaining and will focus her studies on news editorial journalism. She is the daughter of Tomáš Burda and Alena Burdová and has two siblings, Katerina Sobotová and Barbora Burdová.
Indiana University Baseball Player Jake Skrine to Transfer
Indiana University Baseball player Jake Skrine announced that he will play his final year of college baseball at another university. Skrine will be a graduate transfer after finishing his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. Skrine is a 6-2 infielder from Longmont Colorado and Mead HS. Skrine had.152 batting average in which he played in 27 career games and started 5 of them. He had 33 at bats, 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 RBI’s and 3 doubles. Skrine was walked twice and hit twice in his career.
Skrine is the second player to announce that he is leaving the Baseball program joining Linton Indiana native Kip Fougerousse. The Hoosiers finished 27-32 this season.
Indiana Fever Add Gary Kloppenburg as Assistant Coach
The Indiana Fever announced that veteran WNBA coach Gary Kloppenburg will join the team as an assistant coach through the remainder of the 2022 season. Kloppenburg fills the assistant coaching vacancy after Carlos Knox was promoted to interim head coach replacing Marianne Stanley.
“Gary Kloppenburg is a proven winner at a championship level and he brings extensive experience coaching in the WNBA and the NBA. He is an excellent addition to our Fever coaching staff,” Fever interim general manager Lin Dunn said in Press Release.
A WNBA champion as a head coach with Seattle in 2020 and as an assistant there in 2018, Kloppenburg served as an assistant coach with the Indiana Fever from 2008-11 and 2015-16. In addition to working with Dunn from 2008-11, Kloppenburg was also an assistant on Dunn’s coaching staff in Seattle from 2000-02. Kloppenburg’s WNBA champion Storm led the league in assists averaging 21.9 per game and was also second in the league with 87.5 points per game during the 2020 season. Seattle was the only team in the WNBA that season to average double-digit steals per game and led the league in defensive rating as well.
“I am so excited for the opportunity to come back to Indiana and work with my longtime friends Carlos Knox and Lin Dunn,” Kloppenburg said in Press Release. “They have put the framework in place to make an impact in the league this season with some excellent young veterans and high-energy rookies.” Kloppenburg also worked as an assistant coach in the NBA with the Charlotte Bobcats from 2004-07.

Indians Lose to Omaha in Walk Off Fashion
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Nate Eaton lifted a walk-off solo home run over the left field wall to hand the Indianapolis Indians a 2-1, series-opening loss against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday night. In the seventh inning, Vinnie Pasquantino tied the game with a solo home run off Austin Brice (L, 1-2) for the Storm Chasers’ (25-23) third hit of the night. Half of Omaha’s four hits game via the long ball, with Eaton’s walk-off shot ending the contest.
The Indians (24-24) scored first for the seventh consecutive game when Travis Swaggerty drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning. He reached base safely in four of five plate appearances with two of Indy’s six hits on the night. Omaha was held scoreless through the first six innings of the ballgame. Indy’s starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff held the Storm Chasers to one hit in 5.0 scoreless innings of work. Eickhoff and Cam Vieaux combined to retired 13 consecutive batters until Pasquantino’s game-tying dinger. Zach Willeman (W, 1-0) did not allow a hit in two scoreless innings and fanned four during his Triple-A debut.
