Burglar shot dead after breaking into northern Indiana home
Warsaw, Indiana Police said they were called after 9pm Tuesday evening, to a home on a report of someone breaking and entering. When Police arrived, they found the adult male suspect with a bullet wound to his chest. The unnamed man died at the scene after life-saving attempts by both Police Officers and Paramedics.

Three adults and a young child, who were in the home at the time of the reported breaking and entering and subsequent shooting. All witnesses are cooperating with the investigation, according to Police.

Greencastle man taken into custody on felony warrant
On Wednesday, Indiana State Trooper Colton Maynor located a male suspect that was wanted on a attempted murder warrant out of Lawrence County. 

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Trooper Colton Maynor was attempting to locate a William R. Blackwell, age 40, of Greencastle, Indiana, who was wanted on multiple criminal charges on an active warrant out of Lawrence County. Trooper Maynor located a vehicle that Blackwell was known to operate in an apartment complex in Greencastle. Trooper Maynor, along with other law enforcement officers, received information that Blackwell was located in one of the apartments. The information was confirmed, and Blackwell was located within an apartment and taken into custody without incident.

Blackwell was transported to the Putnam County Jail where he is awaiting extradition back to Lawrence County. He is charged with Attempted Murder, Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Intimidation.

Jenn Cristy headlines Food Truck Friday performance, tonight

After two years, Jenn Cristy and her band return to Bloomington’s Switchyard Park for an all ages, free show. Attendees are encourages to bring a picnic, chairs, blankets, coolers, and hang out under the Indiana summer evening sky for “a great night of music and fun.”

The show is part of the City of Bloomington’s Performing Arts Series, being held at the Main Stage at Switchyard Park, tonight from
6–8:30pm. Opener, Kade Puckett will get the music started at 6pm, and Jenn Cristy, described as “high-energy pop & rock,” will close out the night.

These concerts are held in conjunction with Bloomington Food Truck Fridays. The public can grab dinner from a local food truck while enjoying local live music. This concert will also feature a beer garden with drinks from Cardinal Spirits, and The Cabin Restaurant and Lounge. The beer garden will be open from 6-8:15 p.m. under the tent in main performance stage lawn.

This Week in Hoosier History
2002 – Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon helped dedicate the historical marker at Lyles Station, an early African American community in Gibson County, Indiana. At its peak in the late 19th century, the town had over 50 homes, a post office, a railroad station, two general stores, and a school. The school has been restored and now serves as a museum and cultural center.
