Monroe County Reserve Deputy killed in crash
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy James Driver was killed in the line of duty yesterday. Deputy Driver was responding to an automobile accident when he was involved in a crash of his own near West State Road 45 and West Eller Road. Driver was rushed to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he later died. Driver, a Reaserve Deputy since 2018, is originally from the United Kingdom and lived in Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Anna Driver, a daughter, and two step-children.

Mike Woodson named new Head Coach of IU Men’s Basketball
Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Dolson has named former Hoosier All-American and Indianapolis native Mike Woodson as the 30th head coach in the men’s basketball program’s history. Woodson returns to the Bloomington campus with vast experiences and knowledge after playing in the NBA for 11 seasons beginning in 1980 and serving as a coach in the league beginning in 1996 for seven NBA franchises, including nine years combined as a head coach with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks. He was currently serving as an assistant coach with the Knicks.
“This is a great day and a great fit for Indiana Basketball,” said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson. “Throughout this process, I was looking for someone I could partner with to return Indiana Basketball to a level of success that Hoosier fans have come to know and expect, and Mike is that person.

Gas prices in Indiana fall slightly
Indiana gas prices have fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.68 a gallon today, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of nearly 3300 stations in the state. GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for station-level data spanning nearly two decades. Gas prices in Indiana are 5.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 92.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Indiana is priced at $2.31 a gallon today while the most expensive is $3.09 a gallon. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.84 a gallon today. The national average is up 12.9 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 87.5 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. 10 years ago, the average gallon og gas in Indiana cost $3.58.
