Indiana Women’s Basketball Head Coach Teri Moren Extended to 2027
Fresh off the schools first Elite 8 Appearance Indiana Women’s Basketball Head Coach has had her contract extended through 2027 season. Moren’s Yearly Salary goes to $ 862.500 and performance bonuses including Big Ten and Postseason Championships. NCAA Tournament and WNIT Conference and or National Coach of the year accolades and Team Academic accomplishments. Moren is 148-80 in 7 years with 6 straight 20-win seasons, 3 NCAA Appearances, 2 WNIT Appearances including the 2018 WNIT Championship. The Hoosiers made their 1st Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight appearance. The Hoosiers archived highest seed for NCAA Tournament with a Number 4 seed and Highest Big Ten Seed in school history with a number 2 seed along with 16 Big Ten Conference Wins most in school history.
Indiana Men’s Basketball Junior Trayce Jackson-Davis to Return to Team
Indiana Men’s Basketball Junior Trayce Jackson-Davis announced he will return to school for his junior season and play for new head coach Mike Woodson. Jackson-Davis has started all 59 games for the Hoosiers in two seasons. He has scored 949 points for 16.1 Average, 513 Rebounds, 76 assists, 97 blocks and 42 steals. The Hoosiers still have four players in the transfer portal, Race Thompson, Jordan Geronimo, Armaan Franklin and Khristian Lander have not announced there plans to stay in the portal or withdraw and return to Indiana.
Indiana Women’s Basketball Players Keyanna Warthen and Chanel Wilson to Transfer
Indiana Women’s Basketball Senior Keyanna Warthen and Redshirt Junior Chanel Wilson have announced they will leave Indiana and enter the Transfer Portal. Warthen who is from Fort Lauderdale Florida played 112 games and started 1 game. Warthen scored 219 points for 1.9 Average, 102 Rebounds, 57 assists, 11 blocks and 35 steals. Warthen will have one year left as expected to graduate this May. Wilson played in 37 games and made 2 starts. Wilson redshirted the 2018-19 season because of torn ACL she suffered in High School in Powder Springs Georgia. Wilson scored 79 points, 22 rebounds, 29 assists, 5 blocks and 10 steals. Wilson will have 2 years left but could have a 3rd since all athletes were given and extra year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Four State Boys Basketball Champions Crowned Saturday
Four Boys State Basketball State Champions were crowned with the IHSAA Boys State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis In Class 1A Barr-Reeve beat Kouts 64-48. The Vikings finish 29-2 and win their 2nd State Championship the first coming in 2015 while Kouts ends the year at 29-3. In Class 2A Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian beat Parke Heritage 55-40. The Braves finish 28-3 and win their 2nd state title with the first coming in 2019 in Class 1A while Parke Heritage ends the year at 27-4 in just 3rd year as school. In Class 3A Silver Creek beat Leo 54-53. Sliver Creek wins it 2nd state title they won it all in 2019 and finish with a 25-4 record while Leo ends the year with a 25-4 record. Silver Creek became the 3rd school Indiana High School Basketball History to win a Girls and Boys State Championship in the same year joining Oregon Davis in 2007 and Warren Central in 2018. In Class 4A Carmel beat Lawrence North 51-46 in overtime. Carmel has won 5 state championships in 1977, 2012, 2013 and 2019. The Greyhounds Join Marion, Muncie Central and Washington as the only schools to win five or more State Championships. Carmel finishes 26-2 and Lawrence North finishes 28-3. 2022 IU Commit CJ Gunn has 18 Points and IU Football Commit Donaven McCulley had 11 points.
