Indiana’s 1976 Men’s Basketball Team Still Last Unbeaten in Men’s College Basketball

Baylor beat Gonzaga 86-70 in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Late Monday Night to win its first National Championship and spoil Gonzaga’s perfect season. The Bulldogs were 31-0 coming into the game and were looking to become the first team to go undefeated since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers did it with 32-0 record. Gonzaga was the first team since Indiana State in 1979 to come into the National Championship Game undefeated. Indiana State lost to Michigan State That year when Larry Bird faced Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Baylor becomes just the fifth school to win a Men’s and Women’s National Basketball Championship joining Maryland, Connecticut, Stanford and North Carolina. IU beat Michigan for the 1976 National Championship which was the first of three titles for Bob Knight who won it all in 1981 and 1987.   

Indiana Women’s Basketball Player Hannah Noveroske Entering Transfer Portal

Indiana Women’s Basketball’s Hannah Noveroske announced she will enter the transfer portal and leave Indiana University after two seasons. Noveroske played in just 8 games this season played 29 total minutes, 3-8 from the field, 1-2 from the line, 6 Rebounds, 5 Blocks, 2 Steals, 7 Points for 0.9 Points per Game Average. She played in 22 games total scored 24 points for 1.1 points per game average, 29 rebounds, 9 Blocks, 3 steals and 2 assists. She Becomes the 4th player to leave the Hoosiers this season joining Jaelynn Penn, Keyanna Warthen and Chanel Wilson.

Edgewood Softball Survives Bloomington South 12-10

Edgewood survived a four-run top the 7th inning by Bloomington South to knock off the Panthers 12-10 Tuesday evening in Ellettsville. The Mustangs got two insurance runs in the bottom of sixth to push the score 12-6 before the Panthers made a furious rally that came up short. The Mustangs are 6-0 on the season and with there win last week over Bloomington North the Mustangs take the county championship. Edgewood will travel to Terre Haute South Friday and Saturday while Bloomington South 1-1 hosts Martinsville at 6 pm Thursday.

Jasper Beats Bloomington South Baseball 13-4

Bloomington South opened its new renovated baseball field with new stands press box and lights but Jasper spoiled the party beating the Panthers 13-4 Tuesday Night. The Panthers had 10 hits and 4 errors. Jasper scored 4 runs each in the 4th and 6th innings. The Wildcats had 11 hits and 2 errors and improve to 3-0 on the season. Bloomington South announced that press box is named for former head coach Grier Warner.  The Panthers are 0-3 on the season and will travel to Edgewood on Thursday for a 5:30 PM matchup with their county rivals the Mustangs.
