Indiana Takes on Marshall For NCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship

Indiana Men’s Soccer will be going for their 9th Men’s Soccer National Championship tonight when they take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at 8 PM on ESPN2 in Cary North Carolina.  Indiana beat Pittsburgh 1-0 and Marshall beat North Carolina 1-0 Friday Night to get to the Championship Game.  Hebert Endeley scored the game winner for the Hoosiers at the 78:48 Mark as Hoosier goalkeeper Roman Celentano Recorded his 10th clean sheet of the season. The Hoosiers are 12-1-2 this season with a record 21 College Cup Appearances with a NCAA Tournament record of 95-34-6 which is the best in NCAA History. The Hoosiers are in their 16th Championship Game appearance. IU is 8-7 Overall in the National Championship Game. The Hoosiers Last won it all in 2012 when they beat Georgetown in Hoover Alabama. IU last made the final in 2017 when they lost 1-0 in 2 overtimes in Chester Pennsylvania. Marshall is in the national title game for the first time in school history. The Thundering Herd are 10th ranked and 12-2-3 on the season. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Florida Defensive End Richard Thomas Jr Commits to Indiana Football for 2022   

Indiana University Football got a Verbal commitment from Richard Thomas Jr a defensive end from Fort Lauderdale Florida. Thomas is 6-2 255 pounds and plays at American Heritage High School. Thomas picked the Hoosiers over Pittsburgh, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas among others. Thomas is 3rd player to commit joining Inside Linebacker Kaiden Turner of Fayetteville Arkansas and Athlete Dasan McCullough of Bloomington South.  Players in 2022 class cannot sign a National Letter of Intent until there senior season. The National Signing Periods are in December 2021 and February 2022.

New York Liberty beat the Indiana Fever in Fever Home Opener

For the 2nd time in 3 days the New York Liberty beat the Indiana Fever 73-65 Sunday Afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Liberty beat the Fever 90-87 Friday Night in Brooklyn on a Sabrina Ionescu buzzer beater. New York led 31-18 after the first quarter. The Fever struggled getting back on defense giving up easy buckets inside. The Fever outscored the Liberty 17-10 2nd quarter to get back in the game to cut to 6 at halftime down 41-35. The Fever could not cut the lead as Liberty 58-49 at the end of the 3rd quarter. New York lad 4 Players in Double Figures with Betnijah Laney with 20 Points. Ionescu the number 1 draft pick in 2020 from the University of Oregon scored 12 points 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The Fever were led by Kelsey Mitchell 16 Points, Danielle Robinson had 13 and Tiffany Mitchell had 12. The Fever are 0-2 will be in action Wednesday at Connecticut at 7 PM on the CBS Sports Network

Rinus VeeKay Wins GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

20-year-old Rinus VeeKay of the Netherlands won the GMR Grand Prix on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday Afternoon giving Indianapolis Based Ed Carpenter Racing a victory at their hometown track . This is the 3rd first time winner through the first 5 races of the Indy Car Season. This most first-time winners at this point since the 2013 season. Veekay is fourth driver 24 years old or under to win a race this season joining Alex Palou, Colton Herta and Pato O’Ward. Six Time Indy Car Champion Scott Dixon is the only veteran to win this season so far. VeeKay had the move of the race when he through the middle of Alex Palou and Jimmie Johnson on a gusty three wide pass during the middle of the race.  The Dutchman chased down pole sitter Romain Grosjean and took over the lead on lap 45. VeeKay pitted and Grosjean took the lead but he could not win the race off pit road and VeeKay beat him to the line by 5 Seconds.  Grosjean led a race high 44 laps but is an Indy Car rookie but has a lot of experience in Formula one and he survived a fiery crash November in the Bahrain Grand Prix that left in with severe burns on his hands   Sunday May 30th it is the greatest spectacle in racing with the Indianapolis 500 at Noon on NBC.
