Former Indiana Player Maurice Creek Hits Game Winner in the Basketball Tournament

Former Indiana University Men’s Basketball player Maurice Creek hit the game winning three pointer as his Sideline Cancer team beat Founding Fathers which is the James Madison Alumni Team 80-77 in the first round of the Basketball Tournament in Charleston West Virginia. Creek scored 16 points pulled down 5 Rebounds and dished 4 assists as Teammate and former IU Hoosier Remy Abell scored 8 points pulled down 3 rebounds and had 1 assist. Creek and Abel started their careers at IU but then finished at George Washington and Xavier respectfully. Sideline Cancer went on to beat Fort Wayne Champs 92-71 in the 2nd round. Creek had 8 points one rebound and 2 assists and Abell had 8 points. The Basketball Tournament is 64 team single elimination tournament talking place at four sites Charleston WV, Peoria IL, Wichita KS and Columbus OH. 8 teams will advance to Championship Week in Dayton Ohio where the winning team will take home the 1-million-dollar prize.

Princeton Indiana and Norte Dame Grad Jackie Young Added to Team USA 3X3 Olympic Team

Jackie Young has been added to the 2020 USA Women’s Basketball 3×3 Olympic Team in Tokyo Japan. Young replaces Katie Lou Samuelson who tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the games. Young plays for the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA will Join Stefanie Dolson of the Chicago Sky, Alishia Gray of the Dallas Wings and WNBA Teammate Kelsey Plum. The team will be one of 8 teams competing in the first ever Olympic 3 on 3 tournament at Aomi Sports Park July 24-28th. Young is the all-time leading scorer in Indiana High School Basketball History Male or Female scoring 3,268 points. Young led Princeton to Class 3A State Championship in 2015 and was Indiana Miss Basketball in 2016. She played 3 seasons at Norte Dame winning the 2018 NCAA Championship. Young was taken Number 1 overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces.

Indiana State Little League Baseball Tournament Starts Today in Munster

10 teams from around the state of Indiana will converge at the Munster little league facility for the 2021 Indiana State Little League Baseball Tournament which is for ages 12 and under. The Opening Ceremonies are at 11 am this morning and pool play starts at 2 pm. The Teams are split into two 5 team double elimination brackets until Saturday when the two survivors will play a one game bracket championship on Sunday when the bracket winners advance to the winner take all championship game. The winner of the State Tournament advances to the Great Lakes Regional August 8-14th in Whitestown Indiana and the Little League World Series is August 19th-29th in Williamsport Pennsylvania. Pool A will consist of Jasper, Concord, Lebanon, Highland and Brownsburg. Pool B is Broad Ripple, New Castle, Wabash, Bedford and defending state champion Sliver Creek. There was no tournament last year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and all 10 teams won their district championships to get to the state tournament.  

Milwaukee Bucks Can Clinch NBA Title Tonight

The Milwaukee Bucks are one game away from the NBA Championship with Game 6 tonight in Milwaukee 9 PM on ABC. The Bucks lead the series 3-2 Indianapolis Pike product Jeff Teague has scored 9 points in 55 minutes of action through 5 games and Norte Dame grad Pat Connaughton has scored 55 points in 157 minutes of action in 5 games for Milwaukee. E’Twaun Moore from East Chicago Central HS and Purdue has not appeared for Phoenix in the NBA Finals. The Bucks won Game 5 Saturday night in Phoenix 123-119 for the first road win of the series.
