
Indiana University Men’s Basketball Lands 7-2 Samet Yigitoglu from SMU 7-foot-2 and 270-pound SMU transfer center Samet Yiğitoğlu has committed to IU basketball, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony is reporting. As a sophomore for SMU in 2025-26, Yiğitoğlu started all 34 games. He averaged 10.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.6 assists. He shot 62.8% from the field. In 2024-25 as a freshman, Yiğitoğlu played/started 32 of 35 games for SMU. He averaged 10.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 blocks. He shot 53.5% from the field. He is 1 of 6 in two years from beyond the 3-point arc, and a career 53.1% free throw shooter. The 22-year-old has two years of eligibility remaining. Prior to arriving at SMU, he averaged 13.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and shot 82.6% on FGs in four games with Sigortam Istanbul in Turkey in 2023-24.
Former Indiana University Women’s Basketball Player Shay Ciezki Signs a Training Camp Contract with the Phoenix Mercury Indiana women’s basketball alum Shay Ciezki has signed a training camp contract with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, the league announced on Tuesday. She will join the team’s training camp, which will begin on April 19. In one of the most impressive single seasons in IU women’s basketball history, Ciezki averaged 228 points per game and scored 708 points while knocking down 79 3-pointers She finished second in a single season in school history while setting the school record for points per game in a single season. She is the second player in NCAA Division I women’s basketball to average a 50/40/90 while scoring 20+ or more (Eva Hodges, William & Mary 2019). The Buffalo, N.Y. native shot 52.6 percent from the floor, 44.6 percent from the 3-point line and 90.8 percent at the free throw line. She scored in double figures in 30 of 31 games played in her senior season, scoring 20 points or more 23 time and had seven 30-point games. In addition, Ciezki is in the Top 10 in the nation in points per game, 3-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage. She became the fastest player to 1,000 points in IU history in 2025-26, hitting the career mark in her 60th game played for the program. She sits 30th all-time in scoring (1,097). Ciezki was named the Big Ten Player of the Week twice which led to All-Big Ten honors in 2025-26. She earned a place on the first team from the league’s media and second team from the league’s coaches.

Indiana University Wrestling Signs West Lafayette Native Connor Barket Indiana Wrestling head coach Angel Escobedo announced the signing of Connor Barket on Tuesday. Barket, a transfer from Duke comes to Indiana after spending four years with the Blue Devils. At Duke, he wrestled primarily at heavyweight with a handful of matches at 197 lbs. throughout his four years in Durham and compiled a 62-40 overall record. Barket is a two-time NCAA Qualifier, qualifying as the No. 27 Seed at 285 lbs. in 2025 and was the No. 24 Seed at 285 lbs. in 2026. In 2026, Barket went 1-2 at the tournament, picking up a 9-1 major decision win over No. 25 Alex Semenko (Brown) on the backside of the bracket. He finished on the podium twice in the ACC Championships, taking fifth place in back-to-back years in 2025 and 2026.
Barket is returning to his home state as his hometown is West Lafayette, Ind. He was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and football at West Lafayette High School. He was an Indiana state finalist as a senior in 2022 and was a three-time regional champion as well as a 2022 semi-state champion. At West Lafayette, he went 150-14 in his career and holds the single-season takedown record of 147 in 2022. He was the Indiana State Wrestling Association Triple Crown winner and a USA Wrestling Folkstyle All-American as a junior.
Indiana Fever Re-sign Brazilian Center Damiris Dantas The Indiana Fever and free agent Damiris Dantas have agreed to new contract terms, seeing the Brazilian center return for her third-consecutive season with the franchise. “We are very excited to welcome DD back to the Fever this season,” said team COO and General Manager Amber Cox. “She is coming off another strong offseason overseas, and we are looking forward to her continuing to be a valuable contributor for us. In addition to everything she brings on the court, DD is a fantastic teammate, contributing to the special culture we want to continue to build.”
Dantas originally signed with the Fever ahead of the 2024 season and has since played in 58 games for Indiana, averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, and was a part of the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup championship team. Beginning her career with the Minnesota Lynx, Dantas went back and forth between the Twin Cities and the Atlanta Dream from 2014-2022, where she played in a combined 202 games and averaged a combined 7.6 points per game.
A consistent presence for the Brazil National Team, Dantas has played in 81 games for her home country, making her debut in 2010 while she was still a teenager. Most recently competing in both the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying tournament in China and the 2026 FIFA Women’s AmeriCup, Dantas led both tournaments in scoring, averaging 22.0 points per game and 21.4 points per game, respectively. This past offseason Dantas competed with Botas SK in Turkey where she finished with the fourth most points per game (18.4) in the Women’s Basketball Super League.
Indianapolis Colts Sign Free Agent Safety Nasir Adderly The Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday signed free agent safety Nasir Adderley. The 28-year-old Adderley previously spent four seasons (2019-2022) with the Los Angeles Chargers before announcing his retirement from the NFL in March of 2023. In February of 2026, Adderley announced on social media he intended to return to the NFL. Over four seasons with the Chargers, Adderley appeared in 50 games (44 starts) with 227 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and four tackles for a loss. A 2019 second round pick (No. 60 overall) from Delaware, Adderley became a full-time starter for Los Angeles in 2020, with all 44 of his starts coming from 2020-2022. Adderley is the third safety the Colts have signed in free agency this year, joining Jonathan Owens and Juanyeh Thomas. The Colts lost safeties Nick Cross (to Washington) and Rodney Thomas II (to Seattle) in free agency in March as well.
Taylor University Men’s Basketball Player Pete Combs Secures CSC Academic All-American Honors Pete Combs was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American on Tuesday after an incredible season on the court and in the classroom at Taylor. The junior forward was named a Second-Team CSC Academic All-American after earning a 3.66 GPA in his finance courseload. Combs averaged 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 62.8 percent from the field, which was second in the Crossroads League and top 35 in the NAIA and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. Combs was the only player in the top 55 of the NAIA in field goal percentage to make at least 20 three pointers this season. Combs’ dynamic presence in the post helped Taylor earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2016-2017. The Bloomfield, Indiana native blossomed as a starter in a featured role this year after coming off the bench for the last two seasons and will look to continue his growth next year as the Trojans build on a successful campaign. Combs is the fifth Trojan to earn CSC Academic All-American Honors this season, joining Ellie Frey, Eliza Luttrell, Campbell Massey, and Reid Messer, and the first for men’s basketball since Jason Hubbard after the 2021-2022 season.
