Indiana University Women’s Basketball lands Nebraska Transfer Jess Petrie IU women’s basketball has landed its second player out of the transfer portal. Forward Jess Petrie has committed to the Hoosiers, per reports. She entered the portal out of Nebraska and visited Indiana Monday before committing. She has one year of eligibility remaining. Petrie has started 23 games in each of the last two years at Nebraska. She took a big step forward this past season, going from 6.4 points per game as a sophomore to 11.3 as a junior. The Gold Coast, Australia native added 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 blocks, and one steal per game in 2025-26. She shot 45 percent from the floor, 29 percent from 3-point range, and 77 percent at the foul line. Petrie joins Iowa State transfer Alisa Williams in committing to Teri Moren’s program out of the portal. The Hoosiers now have 10 scholarship players on the 2026-27 roster.

Indiana University Men’s Basketball Redshirt Freshman Andrej Acimovic Enters the Transfer Portal Bosnian center Andrej Acimovic has entered the transfer portal after one season with IU basketball. The 6-foot-10 Acimovic never played for Indiana.  He arrived in the late summer of 2025 and missed the Puerto Rico summer tour as well. He’ll be a redshirt freshman at his next stop. His departure leaves Trent Sisley as the only returning scholarship player from the 2025-26 team. Prior to coming to Bloomington, Acimovic averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the U19 ABA League, the top league in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia region.

Indiana University Men’s Basketball adds Georgia Tech Sophomore Jaden Mustaf Indiana basketball has added Georgia Tech transfer wing Jaeden Mustaf from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-6 and 210-pound Mustaf is from Bowie, Md. As a sophomore in 2025-26, Mustaf played in 29 games, earning the start in 23.  He finished third on the team in scoring at 10.4 points per game, second in assists (71), while adding 4.3 rebounds per game.  He scored in double-digits 13 times, including 12 against ACC opponents.  He shot 43.3% from the field overall including 38.9% from three on 54 attempts. Mustaf was a 72.7% free throw shooter. Mustaf has two years of eligibility remaining.  He is Indiana’s first commit in the 2026 portal class.

Indiana University Men’s Basketball lands Duke Transfer Darren Harris Indiana basketball has added Duke transfer shooting guard Darren Harris from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-5 and 195-pound Harris is from Herndon, Va. Harris played in 36 games for Duke as a sophomore in 2025-26, all off the bench. He scored 3.3 points per game and added .8 rebounds and .4 assists in 9.6 minutes. Harris shot 36.3% overall including 33.3% from three on 69 attempts. He shot 76.9% at the free throw line. Harris has two years of eligibility remaining. Harris has ties to IU assistant coach Kenny Johnson. He played travel basketball for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit, a program Johnson has a long history with. He attended St. Paul VI H.S.

As a freshman in 2024-25, Harris scored 2.0 points per game in 6.0 minutes. Harris has primarily been a 3-point shooter in college, with 68.9% of his attempts coming from beyond the arc. He shot just 22.7% as a freshman from long range before improving to 33.3% as a sophomore. His free throw percentage also improved from 50% to 76.9%, all on a relatively small sample size. Harris was a 4-star prospect according to both 247Sports and ESPN out of high school, ranked No. 45 by ESPN and No. 56 by 247Sports. He was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year after averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

Former Notre Dame and Indiana Mr. Basketball Markus Burton Commits to Indiana University Men’s Basketball Indiana basketball has added Notre Dame transfer point guard Markus Burton from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-0 and 190-pound Burton is from Mishawaka, Ind. (Penn H.S.). For his three-year college career, Burton has played in 69 games with 68 starts, all with Notre Dame.  He has averaged 19.1 points while shooting 43.8% overall including 33.2% from three.  Burton has made 84.7% of his free throws.  He has added 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds a contest. Burton has at least one year of eligibility remaining, and the possibility of two if he obtains a medical hardship waiver in connection with the 2025-26 season, during which he only played 10 games. The Notre Dame transfer is the third transfer portal addition of the day for IU.  Burton follows Jaeden Mustaf (Georgia Tech) and Darren Harris (Duke).

Indiana Fever Select Three Players in the 2026 WNBA Draft The Indiana Fever made three selections in the WNBA Draft on Monday night. The marquee pick for Indiana was the No. 10 overall pick and South Carolina guard Raven Johnson. Johnson, a former two-time NCAA national champion will re-unite with her former college teammate Aliyah Boston in Indiana. Fever head coach Stephanie White is ecstatic about what Johnson can bring to the table. “First and foremost, she’s a winner,” White said. “She’s won at every level. She’s set the tone at every level. She’s immediately ready on the defensive end of the floor, which is something that we need,” White said. “She’s been a true point guard playing for the greatest point guard that’s played the game, you think of Dawn Staley and Sue Bird, the top two for sure. She’s experienced in big time moments. Just really excited that she fell to us.”

Defense has always been a huge part of Johnson’s game. She ended her college career with 232 steals. “She is the Defensive Player of the Year, she is a leader, she’s a competitor in one of the greatest programs of college basketball,” Fever general manager Amber Cox said. “She’s won at the highest level and has continued to grow her game.” Johnson took a huge leap from her junior to senior season. Johnson averaged 9.9 points and 5.1 assists-per-game her senior year, doubling those totals from the year prior. She also improved her shooting percentage from 35 percent to nearly 49 percent from that span. Those statistical improvements meant a lot to Coach White. “Every year she’s worked on her game, she’s come back with something different,” White said. “Staying another year to be able to continue to grow on the offensive end of the floor. You saw the work she put in. It’s not going to be any different at this level. She’s a very self aware player, she understands her strengths and she plays to her strengths.”

The Indiana Fever selected Vanderbilt guard Justine Pissott with the No. 25 pick in the second round of the WNBA Draft. Pissott stands at six feet four inches and averaged 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds this past season. Her 42.2 three-point percentage was the second-best mark in the SEC. Pissott connected on 95 three-pointers in her senior season, the third most in the SEC. Pissott started in all 34 game this past season for Vanderbilt. Pissott transferred to Vanderbilt after playing her freshman and sophomore seasons at Tennessee. As a senior at Vanderbilt, Pissott helped lead the Commodores to the programs first Sweet 16 appearance since 2009. The senior is the first Commodore to be selected in the WNBA Draft since 2014. Pissott joins a Fever team that won a franchise record 24 wins in the 2025 season.

The Indiana Fever selected Alabama guard Jessica Timmons with the No. 40 overall pick in the third round of the WNBA Draft. Timmons averaged 16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in her senior season with Alabama. The 5-9 guard shot 43 percent from the field and 39 percent from three in her senior season at Alabama. The Charlotte, North Carolina native helped Alabama to a 24-11 record and a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament. Timmons led the team in scoring at Alabama and connected on 74 three-pointers this past season.

Taylor University’s Jaynie Halterman Honored as the Crossroads League Track Athlete-of-the-Week Jaynie Halterman collected her second career Crossroads League Track Athlete-of-the-Week award on Monday afternoon after a stellar performance over the weekend. Halterman won the 5,000-meters at the We Fly Challenge hosted by Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. The sophomore crossed the finish line in an astounding 16:06.08, which is the fastest time in the NAIA, more than 30 seconds quicker than the second fastest mark. The CL Track Athlete-of-the-Week is the second for Halterman in her two years at TU and is the second honor of the year collected by the Taylor women’s Track and Field team. Taylor Athletics now boasts 58 Crossroads League, WHAC, or MSFA Player-of-the-Week honors throughout the 2025-2026 athletic season. Taylor track and field compete next on Friday, April 17th, at the Little State Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
