Jalen Hood-Schifino Commits to Indiana University Basketball For 2022

Indiana University Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Woodson got his third commitment for his first recruiting class when Jalen Hood-Schifino announced his commitment to Indiana University over the University of Tennessee for 2022. Hood-Schifino 6-4 185 Pound shooting guard originally from Charlotte North Carolina and plays for Montverde Academy in Florida. He had originally committed to Pittsburgh in 2019 but reopened his commitment. He joins CJ Gunn from Lawrence North HS in Indianapolis and Kaleb Banks from Georgia in Woodson’s first recruiting class. Woodson begins his first season as Indiana Men’s Basketball Coach this season after taking over for Archie Miller who was let go in March.

Big Ten, ACC and Pac 12 Conferences Create Alliance

The Big Ten Atlantic Coast and Pacific 12 Conferences announced Tuesday that they are creating an alliance that ultimately aims to stabilize a volatile environment throughout college athletics by collaborating on weighty issues facing the industry and creating a future scheduling partnership. The Southeastern Conference announced Oklahoma and Texas will join the league in a couple of years leaving the future of the Big 12 Conference in limbo. The SEC expands to 16 teams and this alliance will help prevent the other conferences from expansion and may keep the Big 12 intact despite the loss of two of the biggest college football powers in that conference.        

Indianapolis Colts Release Kicker Eddy Pineiro

The Indianapolis Colts released Kicker Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday afternoon before the rosters had to be cut down to 80 players at the 4 PM Eastern Time deadline. Pineiro was brought in to provide competition to Rodridgo Blankenship was perfect in preseason making 3 short field goals and a 50 yarder against Minnesota. Blankenship was perfect as well and his kicks often carried a little more velocity and height. Pinerio made 23 of 28 kicks in 2019 for the Chicago Bears but the 2020 season was derailed by injury and Cairo Santos took the job away.

Indiana Fever Sign Emma Cannon to Second Seven Day Contract

The Indiana Fever have signed Forward Emma Cannon to her second 7-day contract. Cannon Joined the team after the Olympic Break on July 28th when she signed her first 7-day contract with the Fever. Cannon in 3 games is averaging 7.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 21.5 minutes per game. Cannon scored a season high 16 points and her first start in a road win at Dallas last Friday Night. Cannon played for the Connecticut Sun on June 7th and averaged 4.2 points 3.0 rebounds and 11.5 minutes per game before being released after 5 games. Cannon Started the 2021 with the Las Vegas Aces and played 3 games before being released.  Cannon was undrafted out of Florida Southern and made her WNBA Debut with the Phoenix Mercury in 2017.
