Parings for State Football Draw Announced
The Road to Lucas Oil Stadium is underway after 314 teams learned their sectionals opponents Sunday evening after the IHSAA State Tournament Football draw was conducted in Indianapolis. The first round will start Friday October 22nd. In Class 3A Edgewood 1-6 will travel to Washington 0-7. The Mustangs and the Hatchets met last two season in the Sectionals. October 25th, 2019 Edgewood won at Washington 47-18 in the first round. October 30th, 2020 Washington won at Edgewood 32-16 in the Sectional Semifinal. The Winner of Edgewood-Washington Game will take on the winner of the Vincennes Lincoln 1-7-Princeton 2-6 in the semifinals. The other side of the bracket has Brown County 3-5 traveling to Pike Central 1-5 and Sullivan 6-2 against 7-1 Owen Valley. In Class 5A which will start October 29th Bloomington South 6-1 will travel to Castle 6-2 while Evansville North 4-4 will face Bloomington North 5-3. The Sectional Championships are November 5th, Regionals are November 12th, Semi States are November 19th. The State Championships are Thanksgiving Weekend November 26-27th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. There are 6 classes of High School Football in the State of Indiana and there will be 3 games each day. Times and matchups for the State Finals will be announced after the Semi State Round has been concluded.
Girls Volleyball Sectionals Kick Off Tonight
The IHSAA Girls Volleyball State Tournament kicks off tonight with Sectional action. In Class 4A at Martinsville Columbus North takes on Martinsville at 7 PM with the winner to face Bedford North Lawrence at 11 am on Saturday in the semifinals. On Thursday Columbus East will face Bloomington South at 6 PM followed by East Central and Bloomington North at 7:30 PM with the winners advancing to the Semifinal Saturday at 12:30 and the Championship Game is at 7 PM Saturday Night. In Class 3A at Owen Valley Northview will face Brown County tonight at 7 PM with the winner to take on Owen Valley at 11 AM on Saturday in the Semifinal. On Thursday West Vigo will take on Brownstown Central at 6 PM followed by South Vermillion and Edgewood at 7:30 PM with the winners advancing to the semifinal on Saturday at 1 PM and the Championship Game Saturday Night at 7:30 PM. In Class 1A at Loogootee Lighthouse Christian Academy will play Loogootee in the first semifinal on Saturday at 10 AM While Shoals awaits the winner of the Vincennes Rivet-North Daviess winner in the second semifinal at 11:30 AM and the championship game is Saturday Night at 7 PM.
Indiana Men’s Soccer Host Ohio State
After a 9-0 rout of Division III Trine University from Angola Indiana Saturday Night. Indiana Men’s Soccer is back to Big Ten Play when they host Ohio State at 7 PM this evening on the Big Ten Network. The Hoosiers are 7-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Big Ten Play. Ohio State is 4-6-1 and 0-3 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are coached by former Indiana Soccer standout Brian Masionneuve now in his 4th season in Columbus. He played at Indiana from 1991-94 and was on Todd Yeagley’s staff for nine seasons, The Hoosiers made the NCAA Tournament every year, Four NCAA Sweet 16 and two NCAA College Cups and won the 2012 National Championship. As player alongside Todd Yeagley, they were 73-15-7 and made back-to-back NCAA College Cup appearances. The Hoosiers won back-to-back Big Ten Regular Season Titles. Masionneuve scored 44 goals and had 22 assists and was 2 time Big Ten player of year along with winning the 1994 Hermann Trophy. Indiana Leads the All-Time Series 46-5-4 and the Hoosiers are 6-0-1 against the Buckeyes since 2015. The Last time Ohio State won in this series was October 10th, 2015 which 1-0 overtime victory in Bloomington.
IU-Ohio State Football Game Set for ABC Primetime October 23rd
The Indiana-Ohio State Football Game has been set for Saturday October 23rd at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington and will be on ABC at 7:30 PM. It’s the second time this season that Hoosiers have been on ABC primetime. The Hoosiers lost at Penn State 24-0 October 2nd. This will the 4th night game the Hoosiers have played in this season. The Hoosiers beat Idaho 56-14 on September 11th and Western Kentucky on the road 33-31 September 25th. Indiana is 2-3 and 0-2 in the Big Ten and Host 10th ranked and unbeaten Michigan State this Saturday at Noon. Ohio State is 5-1 and 3-0 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes dismantled Maryland 66-17 last Saturday in Columbus and will come into Bloomington off a bye week. Indiana-Ohio State will be meeting for the 94th time and the game is sold-out. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series 73-12-5. Indiana Last beat Ohio State 41-7 in Columbus October 8th, 1988. The Hoosiers last beat the Buckeyes in Bloomington 31-10 October 10th 1987. The Teams tied 27-27 October 13th , 1990 in Bloomington.
