Monroe County Commissioners approve exceptions for GIS Listings

Monroe County Commissioners have approved a policy in accordance with Indiana State code, for select individuals to withhold their names from the Monroe County GIS. Those qualifying to participate: judges, law enforcement officers, surviving spouses of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, victims of domestic violence, public officials, and employees of the department of child services. Those wishing to have their names withheld from the County GIS need to contact the Monroe County Auditor and complete the necessary paperwork.

MCCSC announces zero Covid cases transmitted at schools during Fall

According to a statement by Monroe County Community School Corporation Communications Director Kelby Turmail, MCCSC had zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 transmission at school during the Fall Semester. The Monroe County Education Association says that through contact tracing, they have linked positive cases for students and teachers to activities outside school. MCCSC schools recorded just shy of 60 confirmed COVID-19 cases for teachers, staff, and in person students. MCCSC has returned to in-person classes and is currently in Phase Yellow; Elementary students attend classes 5 days a week, while all other students share in-person and online classes on alternating days, determined alphabetically.

Indiana Lady Hoosiers take care of Wisconsin

The Indiana Women’s Basketball Team moves to 7 and 3 on the year and 5-1 in the Big Ten after they beat the Badgers of Wisconsin 74-49 at Assembly Hall on Sunday afternoon. Senior Guard Ally Patberg was on fire from the 3-point line, hitting 5 of 7, and leading all with 21 points. Forward Mackenzie Holmes pulled down 9 rebounds and added 14 points. Next up, IU travels to take on instate rival Purdue on Thursday.
