Lady Hoosier kick off their post-season
The 2nd seeded Lady Hoosiers make their 2021 post-season debut this evening, in a quarter final match-up against 7th seed, Michigan State. The two teams only met once during the regular season, with IU coming out on top 79-67. The Spartans advanced last evening after handily defeating 10th seed Penn State. The Hoosiers are appearing in the Big Ten Tournament for the first time as the No. 2 seed, its highest ever ranking in the tournament. Indiana previously received the double-bye as the No. 4 seed in 2017 and 2020.
In a season marked by irregularity, collegiate sports have been plagued with delays, postponements, and cancellations. The post season will be the first time in over a year that a WNCAA team will have the opportunity to play consecutive days, and Indiana Coach Teri Moren believes that her team is up for the challenge, stating that this year’s Hoosiers are tough competitors and physically prepared. She praised the work ethic of team leaders Grace Berger, MacKenzie Holmes, and Senior Ali Patberg. “They are all gym rats,” Moren said. “They set the tone by spending their off hours in the gym.” That physical conditioning has allowed the Moren Transitional offense to succeed, which has been the signature of the Lady Hoosiers in recent years.
Should Indiana win, they will advance to the semi-finals on Friday evening, to play the winner of the Rutger/Purdue match-up. Indiana defeated Iowa twice this season, but has yet to play Rutgers, as their program cancelled a significant portion of their season due to challenges relating to Covid protocols. The finals will be Saturday afternoon at 2pm. All Big Ten Tournament games this year are being played at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police to join 6-State Trooper Project
Indiana State Police will be joining forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project initiative from March 11th through March 13th with a primary focus on criminal interdiction through high-volume traffic enforcement. During this period, motorists can expect to see an increased presence of troopers on the roadsides conducting traffic stops. Drivers are encouraged to not drive distracted and to be increasingly aware of the need to move over or slow down as required to give them the room to work safely. This high-visibility enforcement effort will include the Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Pennsylvania State Police, and the West Virginia State Police. The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol, and intelligence sharing.
