Hall Fame Coach Bobby “Slick” Leonard Passes Away at Age 88

Former Indiana Pacers Coach and Broadcaster Bobby “Slick” Leonard Passed away Tuesday at age 88. Born July 17th, 1932 in Terre Haute Indiana. Leonard was a point guard at Terre Haute Gerstmeyer High School and Graduated in 1951. He went on to Indiana University to play under coach Branch McCracken and help the Hoosiers to the 1953 National Championship. Leonard was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets in 1954 with 10th overall pick in round 2 though he played for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Packers/Zephyrs from 1956-1963 and scored 4,204 points for 9.9 scoring average. Leonard coached for the Chicago Zephyrs/Balitmore Bullets from 1962-1964 and the Indiana Pacers from 1968-1990. He Led the Pacers to three ABA Championships in 1970, 1972 and 1973 573-534 overall in his coaching career. Leonard worked with the Pacers radio team starting in 1985 and his trademark phrase was “Boom Baby” every time the Pacers hit a three pointer. He was Inducted into the Nasmith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.

Indiana Men’s Basketball Player Joey Brunk Leaving School

Indiana Men’s Basketball Player Joey Brunk will spend his sixth season at another school after he announced he will not return to the Hoosiers this season. The 6-11 Brunk missed all of last season due to a back injury. The Southport HS grad started his career at Butler and played 3 seasons before graduating and transferring to Indiana to get a master’s degree. Brunk Played in 32 games in the 2019-20 season and started 31. He scored 219 points for 6.8 average, pulled down 168 Rebounds, 20 assists, 11 Blocks and 6 Steals. Brunk was given an extra year this year because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Hoosiers now have two available scholarships for 2021-22 season.

Indiana Fever Announce 2021 Schedule

The Indiana Fever have announced the 2021 WNBA Schedule. The Regular Season starts Friday May 14th when the Fever hit the road to take on the New York Liberty. The Fever will take on the Liberty two days later in the home opener at 2 PM in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Fever will play its first four home games at Bankers Life before moving to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum for the rest of the summer due to ongoing renovations at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The First game at Coliseum will be Saturday June 12th against the Chicago Sky.

Number 2 UCLA Edges Number 15 Indiana Water Polo 14-10

The Number 2 ranked UCLA Bruins take down Number 15 Indiana 14-10 at the Counsilman Blllingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington Tuesday Morning. The Hoosiers Outshot the Bruins 32-27. The teams traded goals the first three quarters before UCLA scored 4 in the final quarter to just one for the Hoosiers. Zoe Crouch and Tina Doherty scored 3 goals a piece for the Hoosiers. Indiana 8-12 on the season and 0-8 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation while UCLA is 10-2 and 8-2 in the MPSF. Indiana will be on the road this Saturday and Sunday to take on San Jose State 4 PM Saturday and 2 PM on Sunday.
