Grace Berger named to AmeriCup Team
Indiana University Lady Hoosier starting Guard, Grace Berger has been added to the roster of the 2021 USA Basketball team to participate in the Women’s AmeriCup being held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The tournament will take place from June 11-19, and is an every-other year competition of 10 teams from the Western Hemisphere, comprised of women college players. The FIBA AmeriCup is a qualifier for both the FINA World’s Cup as well as the Olympics.

Monroe County Coroner Joani Shields appointed to Indiana Coroners Training Board
Governor Eric Holcomb recently made two new appointments to the Indiana Coroner Training Board: The Honorable Christopher Brown (Milltown), Crawford County Coroner and The Honorable Joani Shields (Ellettsville), Monroe County Coroner, The Indiana State Coroner’s Training Board was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 1994, and was created to establish a certification training course and continuing education course for coroners and their deputies. It was established at the request of coroners throughout Indiana to provide more professionalism to the office and to make sure all death investigations collectively were conducted in a uniform manner. The Training Board is made up of six persons, The Chairman of the Indiana State Department of Health (or designee), The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police (or designee) and four elected Coroner’s appointed by the Governor. The Training Board contracts an Executive Administrative Assistant and a Director of Training which oversee the daily business of the board; conduct the certification trainings and in-service trainings.

IU Junior and ROTC member passes away
21 year-old Michele Loughlin, a Junior at Indiana University died on May 23rd. Loughlin who was born in Livingston, New Jersey, was an International Studies major in addition to performing as an Indiana University Redstepper dance team member, and a participant in the Reserve Officer Training Corp (FOTC, a program which prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military. Loughlin also worked part-time at Bloomington’s Malibu Grill restaurant.
