Flight school plane crashes outside of Indianapolis and kills 2
State & federal authorities are investigating a Central Indiana plane crash that killed 21-year-old Benjamin Corbet of Franklin, Indiana, and 28-year-old Kristen Green of Swisher, Iowa.  The single-engine Diamond Katana DA40 aircraft departed from Lift Academy, a flight school in Indianapolis, and crashed about 50 miles away last Sunday. A spokesman for Lift Academy says they will work to help the families and also with the NTSB to fully investigate the crash.

Bayh and Coats to join Indiana University staff
Indiana University announced this week that two former U.S. senators will take on new roles as staff with the university. Former Sen. and Indiana Gov. Evan Bayh will join the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs as a “distinguished scholar and executive at large.” Former Sen. and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats will join the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies in a similar position as a “distinguished scholar and ambassador at large.”  The two will work together on the schools’ new, joint one-year master’s degree program in international affairs. Both Bayh and Coats  are Indiana University graduates…Bayh received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University; Coats graduated from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Bloomington 4th of July “Reverse” Parade
The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and Downtown Bloomington Inc. have announced that a Reverse Parade will take place on Saturday, July 3. An idea conceived as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city says the Reverse Parade emphasizes both patriotism and safety for all parade participants, viewers, volunteers and staff. Parade entries, to include floats, bands, musical groups, classic cars, emergency vehicles and more, will remain stationary while parade-goers bicycle or drive vehicles past them. The parade will take place on Saturday, July 3rd from 10 a.m. to noon in the Purple Lot at IU’s Memorial Stadium. Spectator admission is free.
