Judge’s injunction will restore Pandemic Unemployment for thousands
A preliminary injunction has been issued, ordering Indiana to continue paying federal pandemic unemployment benefits following a lawsuit issued against Governor Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The injunction will uphold the benefits as prior to the June 19th stoppage, until a final judicial rulking has been issued. Pandemic Unemployment assistance applies to gig workers and others not typically covered, and pandemic emergency unemployment compensation, which extends state unemployment once they’ve been exhausted. Governor Holcomb offered the following statement:

“The state of Indiana took the appropriate steps to terminate its participation in [the] federal pandemic unemployment program. The agreement ended on June 19. The Governor and Department of Workforce Development will discuss an immediate appeal of the judge’s order with the Attorney General.”
