Monroe County Council President will not seek re-election
Monroe County Council President Eric Spoonmore has issued a statement that he will not seek re-election in 2022. The 6-year veteran of the council stated that after much deliberation, that he and his wife concluded it was time to step down after serving out his term. Spoonmore assures his constituents that he will continue to uphold his oath and apply the same “thoughtful and independent manner” to his decision making of the issues before council between now and the conclusion of his public service. He cited the  desire to spend additional time with family as the reason for not running once again. Spoonmore was first caucused into the District IV seat in 2015 to fill a vacancy, and he won the 2018 election to extend his service term until 2022.

ISP Investigation Leads to Meth Dealing Arrest
Last week, the Indiana State Police Bloomington District ACES, and ISP Drug Enforcement Detectives conducted an investigation in alleged methamphetamine dealing. During the course of the investigation, Troopers determined that Kyle Lee, 29 years old of Salem, was on his way to Lawrence County to sell methamphetamine. Following a traffic stop. Officers deployed a service canine, Fleck, who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed approximately 3½ grams of methamphetamine. The Department of Child Services was contacted and took custody of an infant which was in the vehicle. Lee and another were incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail on Felony charges.

MCCSC Meal Application is Delayed
Meal application processing for the 2021-2022 school year is delayed pending the release of USDA Direct Certification data.  Officials will keep you updated once they hear more.

2021-22 LOTS Senior Applications
The 2021-22 LOTS Senior application process has been updated for online access and submission. All of the Class of 2022 rising seniors will receive an email through their MCCSC.net account with information on how to apply online. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, July 16, 2021.
