Former Indiana State Representative found dead in Indianapolis hotel
38 year-old former Indiana State Representative Dan Forestal was found dead at an Indianapolis Quality Inn on Wednesday. Indianapolis Police Officers found him during a requested wellness check. Forestal, a former Marion County Bailiff and Indianapolis Firefighter, served in the Indiana General Assembly as a State Representative serving downtown Indianapolis, between 2012-20. Not many details are known or are being released at the present, however, Forestal has been vocal for quite a while regarding his struggles with mental health concerns. There has not been any information released regarding potential funeral services.
City Seeks Proposals for Management of Waldron Art Center
The City of Bloomington has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the management and operation of the John Waldron Arts Center. The City seeks to identify an entity to manage the City-owned facility as an arts center for no less than five years, embrace the facility’s core users (including WFHB, community artists, and arts organizations), conduct joint marketing efforts with these stakeholders, lead fundraising activities, maintain the structure and its building systems, and actively pursue community outreach for diversity and to build audiences. Triple A Baseball postseason changes impact the Indianapolis Indians
Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball have announced that all Triple-A teams will play an additional 10 games called the “Triple-A Final Stretch,” with the season now ending Sunday, Oct. 3. The Triple-A East regular season champion will be named based on the best overall winning percentage through the originally scheduled 120-game regular season and a champion will be named based on the best overall winning percentage in the 10 additional games. The Indianapolis Indians will play at Werner Park against the Omaha Storm Chasers (Sept. 22-26) before returning to Victory Field to play the Nashville Sounds (Sept. 29-Oct. 3). Jasper Community Arts Annual Juried Art Exhibition
The 28th Annual Jasper Community Arts Juried Art Exhibition will take place between September 2nd and October 20th. The submission deadline is Friday, July 16th. This competition is open to any artist who is a current or former resident of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, or Ohio. More information is available here. Tippecanoe Arts Federation Seeks Entries for Curiosity Cabinet
The Tippecanoe Arts Federation invites artwork submissions for Curiosity Cabinet, an exhibition of oddities, science, and superstitions. Selected artworks will be on view Nov. 5th-24th at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. The deadline to submit artwork for consideration is September 15th. Inspired by the traditional cabinets of wonder, Curiosity Cabinet will exhibit the work of artists who are inspired by all things odd. Two- and three-dimensional artwork is sought for an installation that showcases work in the veins of fantasy, science fiction, and pop culture. Learn more here.
2021 Indiana State Fair Entries Closing Soon
Artists looking to submit pieces to the Indiana State Fair have until July 22nd to enter. The entry prices will increase on July 16th. The 2021 Indiana State Fair will take place from July 30th to August 22nd, and there are open calls for artists in multiple categories.
