Indiana Cutters Host Indiana Tornados with Playoff Seeding on The Line
The Indiana Cutters Semi Pro Football Team will host the Indiana Tornados tomorrow night 7 pm at Danville HS. The Cutters are 3-2 and looking to end the home season with a perfect 4-0 record at Hendricks Regional Health field at Warrior Stadium. The Tornados are 3-1 on the season and coming off a loss at the Lake County Warriors last Saturday. Playoff seeding is important because the top 2 seeds in each division will host semifinal games when the playoff begins in August. The Cutters and Tornados split the season series last year with each winning on the others home field. The Cutters won 20-6 in the regular season at Watkins Park in Indianapolis and Tornados won 22-19 in the South division championship game in Martinsville. The Tornados came back in 2019 after they were the Indiana Assassins and these games have always been close battles and expect this one to be another great football game between semi-pro rival’s tomorrow night.
Indiana University Names Athletes of the Year
Indiana University has named Women’s Basketball player Grace Berger, Men’s Soccer player Victor Bezerra and Diver Andrew Capobianco athletes of the year by the university for 2020-21 School Year. Berger averaged 15.4 points 6.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists as the Hoosiers made their first ever NCAA Sweet 16 and Elite 8 Appearances. Bezerra was runner up for the MAC Hermann Trophy and led the Hoosiers to National Championship falling to Marshall this spring. Bezerra scored 12 goals and had 28 total points this season. Capobianco won the NCAA 3 Meter Championship this season and his 2nd overall title. Capobianco will represent the United States in the Tokyo Olympics next week in the 3-meter springboard and the 3-meter synchro event.
Ali Patberg Named NCAA Women of The Year Candidat
Indiana University Women’s Basketball Player Ali Patberg has been named a finalist of the NCAA Women of the year award. NCAA Member schools nominated 535 female student athletes for the award. Established in 1991, the NCAA women of the year award is rooted in Title IX and recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service leadership throughout their collegiate careers. There will be nine finalists announced in the fall and the winner will be chosen at that time
Indianapolis Indians Add 10 Games to Schedule
The Indianapolis Indians and Minor League Baseball have announced all Triple a Teams will play an additional 10 games that will be called the “Triple A Minor League Stretch”. The Season will now end October 3rd. Indianapolis will play at Omaha September 22-26th before returning home to Victory Field to host the Nashville Sounds September 29th-October 3rd. The Triple A final stretch replaces the traditional postseason format for 2021 makes all 30 teams eligible and will have champion crowned based on the best winning percentage in those 10 games. The Regular season will end Sunday September 19th and will have an East Division Champion based on the 120-game regular season.
