RBB Schools announces Covid-related re-entry plans for 2021/22 school year
Richland Bean Blossom Schools has announced their re-entry plans for the upcoming school year, which begins for them on Wednesday, August 11th. During a recent school Board meeting, RBB voted to make classroom mask wearing optional for both students and staff. District Superintendent Jerry Sanders said the plan is based upon transitioning back to a sense of normalcy. The district-wide plan includes masks to be worn while riding busses, keeping desks 3 feet apart, and the encouragement of frequent hand washing. In addition, the schools will not allow for any unscheduled visitors, and any positive Covid test results for students & staff or any of their immediate family members, must be reported to school administration immediately. The Board stated that these plans are subject to change as any potential new information arises regarding the health emergency.

Step mother sentenced in 2019 murder of 12 year-old
27 year-old Dayana Medina-Flores, has been sentenced to 65 years for the 2019 murder of her 12 year old stepson Eduardo Posso. Medina-Flores had pled guilty to the felony while other charges against her were released. The incident has apparently occurred over time, as Posso was brought to the hospital by his father, both beaten and starved. The vicitim’s father, 34 year-old Luis Posso Jr, has not yet had his trial, which has recently been postponed. He faces charges murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, neglect of a dependent with cruel confinement, criminal confinement with bodily injury, and battery resulting in bodily injury. The couple, along with Eduardo and his 3 younger siblings, were all in town from Florida, touring with the Cirque Italia’s Big Top Gold Water Circus, which was scheduled for the parking lot of the College Mall for June of 2019.

Predmore resigns as President of Bloomington’s Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new President & CEO. The Board of Directors announced the resignation of current President Erin Predmore along with the news that a search committee has been former to find her replacement. Predmore, who has led the organization since July of 2018, will stay on in full capacity throughout the search for a replacement, and subsequent transition. The job listing states a deadline of August 31st for qualified applicants. The President and CEO position requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent public relations and coalition building capabilities. The brand of this chamber warrants sensitivity to a diversity of cultures, nationalities, religions, and political interests. Knowledge and expertise with strategic planning and execution of annual business and operation plans are essential, while comprehensive financial management and a participative management style are critical components for success.
