House Bill would limit Gubernatorial Executive powers
Indiana State Representative Matt Lehman’s has introduced legislation which would ensure that a renewal to a 30-day Governor Ordered declaration of Emergency can only be issued if the Legislature is currently in session. In the proposed bill, the Governor would be required to call a special legislative session should there be a desire to extend such an order when Indiana law makers are not in session. Currently, there is no limit to the Governor’s power to renew an emergency order.
